Brett MacLean of the Phoenix Coyotes suffered a cardiac arrest...

QuoteBrett MacLean of the Phoenix Coyotes has been admitted to hospital after suffering a cardiac emergency.

The team issued a statement on Tuesday saying the 23-year-old winger has been admitted to hospital in London, Ont., after suffering a medical emergency while playing hockey Monday night in Owen Sound, Ont.

The Coyotes said MacLean received CPR on site before being taken by ambulance to hospital in Owen Sound. He was then taken by air ambulance to London, where he was admitted to the cardiac intensive care unit.

Word on the street is that bystanders are being given partial credit for quick thinking using the onsite AED.

Non-Hockey Chatter / The Science Thread
March 31, 2012, 11:29:37 AM
Decided to resurrect an old thread idea.

Anyone heard of Gobekli Tepe? Fascinating archaeological find in Turkey (1995) that is turning heads. Carbon dated to around 10,000 bce, the semi unearthed megalithic structures suggest a whole different perspective of what our ancestors were and what they were doing.

The site was intentionally buried around 8,000 bce, no one is sure why.

The structures are circles, Stonehenge-esque, made of sharp edged 10-15 ton monoliths, with bas-relief carvings ( images below ).

The really interesting part to me is that this kind of organized building indicates more than a 'hunter gatherer' society well before most 'established' or 'accepted' time lines.

To Schmidt and others, these new findings suggest a novel theory of civilization. Scholars have long believed that only after people learned to farm and live in settled communities did they have the time, organization and resources to construct temples and support complicated social structures. But Schmidt argues it was the other way around: the extensive, coordinated effort to build the monoliths literally laid the groundwork for the development of complex societies.

This really belongs in the re-signings thread and I didn't see it posted anywhere here so...

James Neal re-signed to a 6 year deal with a hit of 5 per against the cap, from what I can tell anyways.

So, I bit the bullet today, applied to the RPN course at a couple different colleges. Kind of scary for a reformed grunt and artistic wannabe ( well, there's not a lot of money in music these days... ) but also very, very exciting.

Thanks to a couple of posters here for some sound advice, greatly appreciated!

Guess I'll finally have to give up the dream of playing for the Leafs...  :-X

Didn't see a thread about him but thought his performance this year so far at least deserved a note.

...leading the Wings in plus minus...

That's some pretty good price performance, his hit is under 3.

Didn't see a thread about him, sorry if I missed it.

A while back I mentioned Bozie's numbers compared to last year in another thread, he's obviously had a good few games but right now he's on pace for 21g 36a 57p +10
