Toronto deserved a better fate last night. I wouldn't call it their best effort of the season, but it also wasn't horrible.

I found them a little too pretty in the first period. I do believe they bought into the notion that they were going to walk all over Vancouver because of Covid. The last thing you want is to take the night off against a team that has something to play for. That being said, I don't think the Leafs necessarily did. They outshot Vancouver by quite a large margin. Holtby was fantastic and his posts and cross bars were even better. Also, there's no way in he!! that the puck was not in the net with 19 seconds left. I get why they didn't overturn the call on the ice, but the ref made no effort to get in where Marner was clearly pointing at the puck.

On the Campbell front, he certainly is returning to his actual level of play, though I don't think he was playing lights out when he was winning everything. The goal in OT cannot go in. I apologize, but if Andersen is healthy, Andersen goes in. He is the better goalie.
Agree on all points. No reason to apologize.

Really hope the league takes into consideration that Edler was tired at the end of that shift and goes easy on him.

Looks like it's touching the goal line, no?

That frame also would have been after Holtby did everything he could to move it up as he got out of the net though.

I think they just got unlucky last night.  Holtby got real lucky on a bunch.

I went to bed after the second though.

Trust the process and everything but too many games where the Leafs "should" win but don't.    At the end of the day moral victories don't get you to the Cup finals.  It's certainly better to be the better team on the ice than the one that isn't but we can't keep blaming "the other goal stood on their head", or "if only the refs called penalties fairly" if the end result is losses and elimination.

Holbty kept his team in that game.  Campbell wasn't necessarily bad but is letting in softer goals.  We are back to every mistake ending up in the back of the net territory.

Hopefully Hyman isn’t done for the season.

One positive, maybe, is that the Leafs are getting a lot of experience playing close games, which might help in the playoffs where those kinds of close/tight games are common. Of course, if we're always playing with the lesser goalie that will be a problem. A functioning PP would be a big help even though PP opportunities are less frequent in the playoffs.

Losing Hyman would be a big deal, though Foligno should help offset that loss. I would give Robertson more games in the top 6 to see if he can calm down a bit and stop rushing his shot. Think he is close to being a worthwhile contributor. He will have to be very careful around the boards as he tends to put himself in vulnerable positions. Almost got killed a couple of times last night.

Letting in 2 soft goals is bad, there's no way around it. If he just stops the ones he should, the Leafs win and probably easily. He has to be better.
Hopefully Hyman isn't done but that didn't look good.

Well another beautiful morning out here in BC. Shout out to all on here who support the blue and white. I know I have my differences with some on here but in the end we all have one thing in common. That's maybe maybe seeing our team hoist Lord Stanley once again after 50+ years. Been through a lot watching the team over the years I must say more lows than highs but can only pray the drought ends soon. Having said that I want to say Ciao to all of you. Decided to stop posting and end my tenure on the site. I may periodically check in to say hello. Stay safe everyone and healthy and hopefully this summer we will be back to some sort of normalcy. Take care and GLG.

All the best.  I'm in a similar boat as you, just fed up after years and years of failure.   I hope for a Cup but expect none because every year it's always something that seems to sink this team.  Anyway I'm done talking too, I'll fulfill my chunk thread obligation this year and I won't be posting much anymore in the future, it's a waste of time.

I was hoping for these lines to start the playoffs:

Nylander - Matthews - Marner
Foligno - Tavares - Hyman

I hope Hyman is ok.

I don't think there's enough finish on the Tavares line.

Particularly if Hymans hurt. LOL

Could be interesting to see if that trio could outwork a loaded up McDavid/Draisaitl line in a playoff series. But yeah more generally speaking it's better to split some of that up.

God I hope Hyman is at least good for the playoffs.
