Because of the track layout and forest it can sometimes be raining on one part of the track but not the others. On that note hope you didn't get up too early as doesn't seem that the race is going to start anytime soon.

Fun fact: most of the focus has been on Michael Schumacher making his debut here 30 years ago, but just as significantly he won his first race here 29 years ago. I guess they're saving that for next year though.

My first attempt at watching an F1 race and it appears to get rained out, and it appears the teams/commentators were confused about the rules for the last hour and a bit

Yeah, bit of a weird afternoon really and it was a pretty unprecedented situation. Can only recall this happening once before in my 29 years watching F1.

Out of interest do you get the UK commentary? They hint that it goes out in other countriesbut not sure in which.

I found a streaming site to watch it but am really considering getting TSN for F1 and various Leafs games - seemed to be the British feed.

I was going to say this must be quite rare or you wouldn't have teams/commentary unsure of what the rules were surrounding rain out and Sergio Perez's car being allowed to enter the race.

Herman didn't start the thread so no chance of that I'm afraid

OldTimeHockey:
Been watching F1 for the last couple years. Drive to Survive helped me get more into it and also gave me a better understanding of the 'haves' and the 'have nots'. It's one of my gripes in the sport.

I didn't get to watch the actual race yesterday. Watched the rain for about 40 minutes before I brought my kid to hockey.

Side Note: If you get an opportunity to go to Montreal for F1(when it comes back), make sure to check it out. It's an amazing weekend. Make sure to be there for qualifying as well which is almost as fun as the race.

I think that actually might be changing going forward.

Anyone watch Monza last week? I caught the replay and Verstappen landed his tire on Hamilton's head. He's definitely lucky to be alive... Wow!
