POSITIVE VIBES ONLY PEOPLE

Leafs in 4.

Either Leafs in 5 or Canadiens in 7  :-[

I like Florida in this series. They have a solid team and kept doing well despite missing their best D man.

Yep. A team from Florida will win this one.  8)

I don't know about you, but my eyes will be glued to Andersen's groin the entire game, as his lateral movement is really the only thing to care about tonight.

Wait, let me rephrase that...

Actually, on second thought, let it stand.  The same principle made Elvis "The King."
Agree. Just want to see how he moves in the net. This is all about being ready for whatever lies ahead.  Keefe has already said he's not concerned about anything other then how Freddie moves and is feeling.

I think that's telling as to who will be the starter come next Wednesday. My guess is Campbell, but with Freddie ready to go at a moments notice.
Just to add. Keefe already said Campbell is starting Friday's game so I would think if Freddie was perhaps starting game 1, he'd play that game as well.

Yeah. Makes sense. I think tonight is just to make sure Freddie is ready for whenever he gets the net next. Of course if he's bombarded with shots and plays lights-out tonight, then all bets are off.

Completely agree. But let's face it... everybody is expecting a 1st round victory.

As they were last year, which is why it's foolish to make that mistake again.

The rest of that thought was less about expectations and more about...What are we left with if they don't?

Playoff series are very rarely "easy" to win. Winning two rounds would be an accomplishment, regardless of who they beat. Other fan bases would downplay it, sure, but the team that comes out of the North would still be one of only 4 teams to do so this season.

There's a chance that we might need to get past a player who just had the greatest regular season of his generation and possibly in the entire history of the NHL... so yeah I don't think we should really downplay that competition.

Yeah. At this point some of the overconfidence I'm seeing is making me pretty nervous. Like, let's win a playoff series before we start debating whether or not we won it good enough.
The habs will not be an easy out....no one will.

Completely agree. But let's face it... everybody is expecting a 1st round victory. In fact, if they can't get past the Canadiens in the first round we've got a lot more discussion ahead about what kind of team these Leafs are, than we do about the confidence level of fans going into this years playoffs.

I think I know the consensus view on this but just for fun, here goes anyways...

Let’s say the Leafs plow through the first 2 rounds and make it to the final 4. How would that contrast in perception among fans if instead, let’s say they made their way into the top 4 defeating the Bruins and Lightning in a close 6 or 7 game series ?

In other words would beating teams like the Canadiens and the Oilers diminish the accomplishment somewhat? Or does it matter HOW they get there as long as they do?

This goal is right up there among my top Leaf memories, 28 years ago tonight.

I remember clearly watching that OT at Lulu’s Roadhouse in Kitchener  (longest bar in the world at the time) won’t forget that one .

Leafs need a singe point to secure first place in their division.

2 goals on the first 5 shots against Andersen in his return to game action.

Career over ?  8)

I think tonight will be a statement game for the winner .

It’s looking more and more like this will be the Leafs first round matchup. They need to show they can whoop this team! The habs can clinch and show themselves they can beat the Leafs (2 games in a row) if they win.

GO LEAFS GO!

The Marlies play May 6, May 8, May 9 and then have an additional two games on May 11 and May 12 if you factor in the two game extension.  So Andersen is either not going to be fit to play or will have to be activated prior to the end of the season as the Leafs play through May 14th.

I remember when Lou did something like this with Soshnikov. Sosh went down and scored 4 points in 3 games, Lou then had the stint extended to really make sure he wasn't still injured and he ended with 5 points in 5 games while playing top line minutes. When the stint ended the team didn't have any roster space to take him off the IR so they just kept him there until he was traded a few days later. Then St. Louis kept him on the IR for another 9 days.

Wow that’s quite a memory. I can barely recall Soshnikov himself. Lol
