Messages - bustaheims

I'm with GT. Matthews definitely seems to be focused on rounding out his game to do more to help the team win. Unfortunately, the goals aren't coming quite as easily as in the past, but I have a hard time saying he's struggling or disengaged. In terms of the defensive and physical sides of things, he seems to be more engaged than seasons past.

As for the play in OT last night...I have a hard time reading too much into that. Any mistake at 3-on-3 becomes magnified. And, quite frankly, overtime has become less about the best team winning and more about which team gets lucky.

He'd be my #1 choice, for sure, if he's available. St Louis is still in the playoff hunt for now, though.

Certainly wouldn't say no to ROR as a player, but I'd be really worried about the price that it'd take to acquire him.

Sure, but with the reports that the Habs are considering trying to hold on to Monahan, your preferred option might not be any cheaper.

Quote from: Bender on December 02, 2022, 02:08:30 PMThat's a bad defense... but agreed we do need a proper 3C

It's not great, but once Brodie and Rielly are back, it looks a lot better. It's not the area I'd be focusing on making a big acquisition for at this point.

A 3C with a solid two-way game would be my target, for sure.

Quote from: herman on December 02, 2022, 12:09:29 PMThings Nick Robertson could learn from his brother: trust in linemates, get to your spot, don't over handle the puck. Nick has a better shot in isolation, but Jason is just really good at sifting into open space and just getting his release off quickly. Check out the laser over Binnington at 1:28.

Jason definitely seems to have a better feel for the game, even if he doesn't necessarily have the same individual skills as Nick.
Quote from: A Weekend at Bernier's on December 01, 2022, 12:20:05 PMJust checking, because I noted a complete lack of comments from the usual suspects, but are the Leafs a good team now?

Points in 10 straight, 5 wins in a row. Top 5 points percentage in the league.

Nope. Definitely not.

Quote from: Zee on November 30, 2022, 10:36:28 AMHow does Tampa have a better playoff probability when Leafs are ahead of them?

I believe it's combination of a softer schedule, and math that the team is better than how they're playing.

Also imagine it has something to do with the reasons they started with a higher probability - like expected strength in net, their success over the last few seasons, etc.
Former Leaf Aaron Dell starting? Great.
Weird spot to put Robertson. Definitely unlikely to help his offensive production, but it does put an emphasis on him to focus on his defensive responsibilities.

Well, if it's coming from Kyper, I know it's not accurate. So thanks for that.
10-3-1 with .921 Sv% and 2.35 GAA with the goalies that are meant to handle the brunt of the load this season. No complaints there.

North Stars jerseys.

I meant the pregame skate outfits.  They were terrible.  These ones are good.

I think those were their "honouring the military" jerseys that teams often wear in warmup.
Looking forward to sloppy afternoon hockey while at work!
