The most Bettman was ever going to do was knock one game off the suspension, so, him upholding the whole thing really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. He very rarely makes any changes to supplemental discipline decisions.

Will he get to 50 before anyone else gets 40? Sources say probably.

Matthews really is in a league of his own when it comes to goals. Currently up by 9 over Reinhart. Will likely hit 50 before the end of February. If not for the two "cold" streaks (by his standards, at least), he might be pushing 60 already!

McMatthews with dueling tricks!

What do you know?!

Quote from: herman on February 16, 2024, 10:21:29 PMNow that the Blue Jays media doesn't have anything to get excited about, all I'm hearing now is their gushing about how svelte and jacked Vladdy and Manoah are looking now.

We've definitely heard that about Vladdy before, but, from the article in the Athletic, it sounds like Manoah did legitimately make some major changes to his diet and training this off season.

I strongly suspect the vast majority of those were scored in a higher scoring era.

I'd guess when that is taken into account, Matthews goal scoring to date this season is probably something like a top 5 result in NHL history.

It is a lot more special than top 21.

No question. The vast majority would have been in the 80s and early 90s. Doing it today is a much harder accomplishment.

It's also worth mentioning, he's done it while having had stretches of 1 goal in 7 and 1 in 9. Without those colder stretches, he'd easily have hit 50 in 50, and we'd probably be talking out the possibility of him getting to 80 goals instead 70.

Quote from: Rob on February 15, 2024, 09:29:38 PMYou know what every other team in the NHL needs? A Bertuzzi.

We can only hope that last year's playoff Bertuzzi shows up in the spring.

Quote from: Chris on February 13, 2024, 10:54:51 PMMoore and Marchment, yeah...the Leafs (i.e. Keefe) should probably have gotten more out of them. I wonder if we'll be saying that about someone like McMann or Holmberg in a few years.

Moore was on the IR for most of the time he was a Leaf with Keefe behind the bench. Not sure how much more Keefe could have gotten out of him.

And, as others have pointed out, Marchment was also barely on the Leafs' roster before he got dealt.

Both performed well enough for Keefe in the AHL that they earned call ups. He deserves some credit for that. What they've become since is at least partially built on that foundation.
