If you watch the video, it looks like Orpik nutted Komarov right before the goal.

Sure does, or at least he tried to. It was the perfect time for a pat on the back in that case and beside, it's kind of what Komarov does, generally speaking.

Sure, I can see teams, managers, needing to feel like they really want the player first and feeling like he isn't quite any of those things but then I can also see it coming from a function of need, dollars and sense. Might get into that low first territory for Bozak.

For argument, how about a poor man's Vermette for 2.1 per for the rest of this year and next.

I honestly don't see any interference by Vanek at all...  It was the right call.

Yup.

Does CF% really mean all that much in a single game sample?

It's more descriptive than it is predictive. I think it still shows how a player played in a single game, but it says nothing of how a player will perform in future games.

Komarov played well, parts of his game include ignoring possession for tactical purposes ( right or wrong ). I think you can live with low possession numbers in his case in this game.

Retaining salary on Bozak or JVR might get you more, maybe a lot more and the Leafs could do both without blinking much.

The only thing I find flawed is how easily you guys take the bait.

True enough.

Reality check time. Our D is getting pretty good as is.

Sure.

I'll let you do the work.

Starter or backup, how many goals were allowed this road trip?

How many shots allowed with Bibeau in net?

People are referring to this as cherry picking stats to support your claim that the Leafs defense is fine. When this is pointed out you start talking about a majorly flawed ideal that no one is talking about.

I didn't provide stats. So I didn't cherry pick and our defence IS improving.

You disagree?

Are you freaking serious? Now you're arguing that you're not trying to back up your claim with those numbers?

Get bent.

Gosh. It's not like those questions were cherry picked. You've convinced me for definite.

It's almost like having your goaltending put up a Sv% of ~.950 reduces goals against significantly, even when the team is giving up 32+ shots on a regular basis.

You guys are funny. You're stubbornness to hold onto a majorly flawed ideal actually makes me smile.  :)

What majorly flawed ideal would that be?

Wanting another top 5 draft pick.  Its all the wrong kind of greedy.

What does that have to do with you cherry picking stats?

Well, that'll be something if the Islanders go through the season banking on Greiss. It also sounds like there wasn't any love lost there either.
