Oh well we got a point and I'm glad Calgary got 2.
They ain't catching the Habs. Maybe if they play some grueling games against them and put a few bruises on Habs players it helps the Leafs come playoffs

You never know still a few games left. Calgary doesn't look great but Habs have some injuries and to be honest we were horrible last night and I don't think they were much better. I'm hoping they beat them tomorrow and I wouldn't be surprised if Markstrom starts tomorrow as he wasn't overly busy tonight.

You never know is right. The Flames have 5 games left against the Habs and so far they're 3-1 against them. 10 points up for grabs.

They also have four games against Vancouver.  Vancouver is going to be post-COVID and exhausted from playing constant 3 in 4 games stretches.  I don’t think they realistically have a chance but they are probably going to make things frustrating fir Montreal in terms of locking things up

I don't think they do either but I hope they make it interesting anyway.

Matthews needed to stay with Gaudreau there, Rielly had Giordano.
True enough but Rielly over committed to Gio and didn't stop the pass.
Still all started with a brutal decision by Marner.

I think Rielly did overplay it slightly but he's assuming that Matthews is helping him out there.  That play breaks down when both Marner and Matthews go at Gaudreau at centre ice. Can't do that in 3 on 3. You're leaving a 2 on 1 elsewhere on the ice. What's really screwed up is that the player they both attacked, ended up being the one that was wide open in front. Poor defensive play by both Marner and Matthews. Someone had to stick with Gaudreau.

Good points. I was kind of surprised Marner tried to go 1 on 3 in the first place though. Oh well, Thursday's another game.

This was another game where I’m just left meh with both Thornton and Simmonds.  Robertson was not really noticeable but he was playing with a non-NHL player and had minimal minutes.  Hard to show anything when you don’t get an opportunity

I totally agree LK.  I love the thought of having a Thornton who takes it hard to the net but I don't think he has that in him anymore.  Instead he dishes it along the boards.  He still makes some great passes and must be tremendous in the room.  But with that huge frame you just wish for a few flashes of the past just busting through everyone.  Simmonds: I will give him more time to get bgack in the flow since he started terrific, lets hope he can return to that form.

I feel he would benefit from being back at center. Wingers are like sprinters moving in spurts. To me an older longtime center needs to roam and keep his feet moving. He’s probably in the top 3-5% of the league in height and weight. He can’t be darting around. Just to see I’d try

Galchenyuk-Matthews-Marner
Hyman-Tavares-Nylander
Foligno-Thornton-Spezza
Engvall-Kerfoot-Mikeyev

Rielly-Brodie
Muzzin-Holl
Hutton-Bogosian

That's not a bad idea.  I also think he should get the back half of B2Bs off and every 3rd game off otherwise.  If he's to be at all valuable in the playoffs he needs to get time off before then.

I really thought we would see a little bit of that from Thornton this year...even in spurts but do far nada.
