Nice job by the Leafs to not let that game get too far out of reach and gut out the extra point in OT. :)

Yep. Missing shots like that in a 3 on 3 is usually suicide
Yup and that's the way it goes in OT..

They gutted it out.

And big credit to Källgren for making the OT stop.  Good on him.

Rookie mistake on the backcheck sort out led to Giordano sneaking into a wide open lane.

Stützle kind of ruined his big night there.  Oh well, a learning experience for the Diaper Dandy.

Dominate the period and one mistake and it’s in the net.  None of these are on Kallgren but you need a big save
At the end of the day 4 goals on 22 shots... you will never win games like that.
At the end of the day if you give up these kind of chances, you won't win either.
2 on 0, deflection off his own d man, deflection from the slot. Breakaway on a giveaway. Stats don't always tell the whole story.
The Leafs aren't the worst team in the league for chances against and yet most other tea.s are getting above .890 goaltending. It's not a high bar and I'm tired of excuses. If the Leafs don't play a perfect game it's never on the goaltenders.

Can't win games in OT in the playoffs.  Bad team!

Kallgrens save on the breakaway in OT was decent I guess…

Estimating scoring chances isn't perfect but:

Scoring Chances for: 2065 (1st in NHL; Florida 2nd at 2045)
Scoring Chances against: 1606 (10th in NHL; Boston 1st at 1385)
Scoring Chance %: 56.25% (3rd in NHL; Florida 1st 57.35%)
Scoring Chance SV%: 84.86% (3rd last in NHL)

High Danger Chances for: 799 (4th in NHL; Florida 1st at 838)
High Danger Chances against: 646 (11th in NHL; Boston 1st at 513)
High Danger SV%: 78.68% (2nd last in NHL)

The Leafs are elite in generating high danger scoring chances.  They are perfectly fine at giving up high danger chances. They are incompetent at having their goaltenders giving them a save.

Exactly. If we watched other teams with the same level of scrutiny how many times are we saying, well the team let the goalie down or are we saying wow, the goalie gave them some timely saves? Kallgren made some good saves last night but all goalies do. If you don't you're out of the league.

What were the save % numbers for the season up until January 5th?  Is there any way to determine if the early part of the season was luck or if Campbell actually has the ability to play as well as he was?
