Main Leafs Hockey Talk / Re: Changes and Expectations

Quote from: hobarth on September 26, 2023, 01:01:41 AMI see there's a hard core entitled few that think they own this forum, I don't mind being ignored by them, I don't know why only cheerleaders are allowed on this forum by these challenged individuals and since I do get messages from others that feel that their whining is simply bullying, I think this forum will be the next to end up in a scrapheap.

I would like to invite people to participate in healthy debate/discussion about the Leafs, I think that this would be the best way to keep this forum going and the Benders/Guilt Trips should be ignored as I will be doing.

I also think that if the intimidated won't participate because of the bullying then that should be something that the mods should be doing something about to keep this forum interesting and compelling.

Maybe I'm not understanding the purpose of this forum, maybe I should be first clearing my posts with the entitled before I submit them as they seem to have absolute control over all topics about the Leafs and I have been warned about responding to their BS by a mod.

Objection! Argumentative.... Sustained.

Quote from: hobarth on September 25, 2023, 07:03:35 PMI didn't like what TO did last year during the summer, it seemed like TO was trying to become a Nashville clone, all defense, and was expecting that 5 players only were going to provide all of the offense, TO's regular season was again great, with the 5 player strategy, but the lack of offensive depth was again exposed during the playoffs. It wasn't only that the additions last year were very one dimensional but they didn't/couldn't help TO in the possession game which I think is the foundation of superior teams.

This year's summer strategy hasn't been the best, 3 years of Reaves, the Kampf extension but then TO signed Bertuzzi, Domi and Klingberg. The later 3 can perhaps contribute towards both offense, some physicality and possession, they aren't perfect but they do provide dimensions that's sorely been missing in Leaf teams since the beginning of the Matthews era.

Conventional wisdom has always stressed the importance of defense in the makeup of championship teams and TO's d was exceptional last year but conventional wisdom should also stress the point that the team that outscores the opposition wins and we have seen that TO's constant inability to score enough to win in the playoffs is a depth issue.

Maybe, we have a better balance that can continue to win during the regular season but also become more successful in the playoffs.

Sorry dude, but when I see a post by you I typically skip to the next post. I've been following this group since the plaidworks days. All of your post end up being arguments

I was a ball boy and bat boy for the Jays in 1979 and 1980. The lost 100 games both years. But they made the playoffs in 1985 and back to back World Series in 1992/1993. I know that's 30 years ago but I was able to watch those wins. I was 2 when the Leafs last hoisted the Cup.

I'm okay with the Jays. They've been entertaining for most of my life.

I was 5/6 during the WS runs and apart from that at the bat flip they've been unwatchable. And I grew up in the Jr. Jays club and read the comics and everything. Them doing nothing for most of Delgados and Halladays careers really didn't help...

When my son was 8 years old we traveled to Toronto and went to a Jays game. He got his Jays hat signed by Delgado. He had no idea who he was. Unfortunately, the hat was lost during a forest fire years later. We live in New Mexico

I don't want to go through another 16 years of playing half assed and another rebuild. Keep 'em all.

The Oil should trade McJesus and that German guy, because they lost.

Keep them all, I don't want them going into the abyss of miss management that was shitty for the last 50 plus years.

Quote from: Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate on May 10, 2023, 10:26:55 PMI'm now officially pissed off at Bennett.

Didn't watch the game but a lot of talk about Bennett. Should have been suspended but Leafs also should have addressed it then or in the games played since but just shows you the lack of you know what on this team. Florida players like him Tkachuk, Gudas run around doing dumb sh*t because they know that have nothing to fear. Too easy to play against in my opinion. I would dress Simmonds. We don't need the 4th line to play 15 minutes but throw him out there once in a while and just his presence might deter these clowns from doing dumb shi*

I actually think that makes some sense — if he doesn't go over the line, which a vet like him should be able to accomplish.

Haven't we debunked the enforcer deterrent narrative enough by now?  The Leafs just played their best game of the postseason and the only way I'm adjusting the lineup is if Knies comes back healthy to play.

I'm not sure I put Knies in the game if he's ready. I think experience comes more into play in these knockout games.

May not be popular, but I would draw in Bunting for Knies.

I'm okay with Knies so far, I think he'll be a great addition to our team. Don't think he should be on our playoff roster. That said, I hope he pots a couple and proves me wrong.
