There is a little annoyance from me that Edmonton is in this position because they were willing to be morally questionable in signing Kane.  Both Carolina and Edmonton are benefitting from cheap players who are grossly underpaid because other teams wouldn’t touch them with a 10 foot pole.

OK, it seems as though it's a pretty terrible police response to an active shooter.

My concern though, and I didn't articulate it well to LK, is that this turns into a police lack of training/funding issue rather than a "how ITF do they let a kid get a machine gun?" issue.  It's probably both, but I'm of the belief that this is much more the latter.

I've got kids in and around the age of these completely innocent victims, so maybe that affects my opinion of this.

I mean for me it’s a police board that was 40% of the towns budget and they stood around and did nothing because in typical fashion they parade around LARPing rather than actually protecting anyone.  Their response during and after the fact has been disgraceful

It’s that they were making claims that they felt there were no more victims while children were still calling 9-1-1 from the building.

It’s that they were actively hearing gunshots from inside the building while standing around.

The gun control issue is an issue.  But the militarized police who don’t actually do their job is a far bigger one.

Disagree with the called back goal.  If Calgary loses this game over that call….brutal

Wow this series has been boring.  Neither team good.  I refuse to believe New York looks remotely as good next year

Every new piece of information that comes out about this makes it even worse than before.

Holy forkin' shirtballs it's even worse than the previous worse.

I'm afraid to ask...

Police stood around and instead of engaging in an active shooter scenario sat outside - yep
Police got into confrontations including tasing, handcuffing and pepper spraying distressed parents while standing around outside - yep
Police were breaching the building to try and retrieve their own children without dealing with the situation - yep.
More children died while the police did next to nothing.....you betcha.

Yeah this keeps getting worse.

I think we need to be careful painting this as a police response failure at this point...the guy walked through an unlocked school door with a machine gun.

Well yesterday they claimed two officers + the security resource officer engaged the shooter in gunfire before he entered the building.  Today they are claiming they didn't engage with him until well after he was in the building.

I think there are enough burning flags here to be concerned about the response.

Can we really afford a 4M 3rd line centre?

I get that we probably can if we trade Kerfoot but is trading Kerfoot to acquire Strome a big enough upgrade?

1) Montreal
2) New Jersey
3) Arizona
4) Seattle
5) Philly
6) Columbus (Chicago)
7) Ottawa
8) Detroit
9) Buffalo
10) Anaheim
11) San Jose
12) Columbus
13) NY Islanders
14) Winnipeg
15) Vancouver
16) Buffalo (Vegas)
17) Nashville
18) Dallas
19) LA
20) Washington
21) Pittsburgh
22) Edmonton
23) Anaheim (Boston)
24) St. Louis
25) New York
26) Minnesota
27) Toronto
28) Buffalo (Florida)
29) Tampa
30) Montreal (Calgary)
31) Arizona (Carolina)
32) Arizona (Colorado)

If the Rangers and Edmonton advance to the conference finals the Leafs would draft 25th.  If St. Louis somehow came back and beat Colorado they would draft 24th.

Trade back to the end of the 1st + second/3rd round pick(s) and draft Filip Bystedt and Sam Rinzel

18 kids……18 god damn kids

I trust the organization to replace these guys well but never great when you lose good hockey minds.

What could have been.  We don't get to use that excuse after blowing it with Montreal but damn this team was so good.

I'm all aboard Tampa routing everyone.  Vasilevskiy is back to stopping everything (I think that's honestly still a credit to how good our team was)

Using the word quality is really debatable but if you like Horror Schlock I think I had a trial to Shudder through Amazon I think and watched the Chucky series.   I had fun with it.

I really like Nazem but man this year really sticks out as a contract season level of production.

87 points against a career high of 61

32 in 56, 36 in 51, 44 in 73 in the previous three seasons.  Someone is going to pay Kadri a lot of money and while they are getting a good player, you probably aren't getting another season like this out of him.

I like The Boys, I was a big fan of the comic, but I do think any recommendation of it has to come with the caveat that you have to have a tolerance for extremely gory violence and disturbing subject matter.

I'd add recommendations for The Tourist, Patriot, The Great, Clarkson's Farm and movies like The Alpinist, Queenpins and Palm Springs.

While graphic, I like the direction they took to be less....edge?  I went and read the comics after watching the first season and I'm glad they didn't take everything down the comic book direction.

I think they might keep Spezza as a 13th guy if he agrees to a reduced role.

He seems like the kind of guy who won’t complain as long as he gets to hang out with the boys

Only problem is Simmonds is already signed for next season and would currently be penciled in for that spot too. I really don't think we can justify having them both on the roster. If Spezza does want to return maybe we could see if Simmonds would be open to a trade to Philly.

I know the lockerroom seems to love both guys but I think I would rather have Spezza in the lockerroom over Simmonds if we are having them there as more of a cheerleader/veteran type role.
