Tavares has 3 points in 6 career games vs. his former team. It would sweet to see him break out tonight against the Isles. I'm not looking for a hat trick, but a goal and an assist would be really nice. Tough building though; and always a reminder of the sad comatose reality of the Leafs home crowd which is not going to change, even post-pandemic.

I think you are going to realize how much acoustics matter.  The new arena doesn't have anywhere near the same level of noise.  Not to say that the ACC is deafening but the broadcast does a poor job of picking up crowd noise.

The Islanders are too good of a team to have the record they have (some of that is situational with their absurd road trip to start the season and then COVID).

Not a great time to be playing them while we are slumping.  Effort needs to be better today.

Spezza is due to have a better game.  The 4th line has been awful since he came back from suspension.

*sigh*

He came back in the gsme.  Scored a goal after coming back too (2g 1a in the game)

Fire the GM.  Ken Holland built a terrible team and the coach (and the two star players) are being scapegoated for a guy wasting money on Barrie/Ceci/Keith instead of fixing their glaring need in net.

50% capacity starting February 21st.  100% by March 14th according to Ford.

So that's 5 home games with an empty arena and 5 games at 50%.

The defensive lapses haven't been good in the last week but it's hard to win games when nearly every mistake ends up in your own net.

On this road trip Campbell has an .865 SV% in four games.  Goalies are allowed to slump but for all the doom and gloom of the last few games its' really just hard to win games when your goalie can't stop the puck.
He hasn't been good lately and that's a big issue right now. Keefe said last night that it's obvious he isn't playing to the same level.
I also read that T Bay has given up a 2 goal lead 6 times so far this season and manage to also do it twice in the same game. They've also blown a 3 goal lead. It happens to every team. The good part is, this is fixable. It's not so much they're getting outplayed, they're more or less gifting goals. I think they'll be fine. The shutdown and Covid didn't do them any favours.

They look more like the Leafs of the first 7 or so games of the year.   Hopefully we can rally off another 20+ game stretch like we did in November/December once they get back on track.

Non-Hockey Chatter / Re: Coronavirus

I’m finding these numbers disturbing. The fully vaccinated make up the majority of the people in the hospitals and ICUs. I don’t know what this means but this certainly is going to give ammo to the anti vaccination crowd.

It really shouldn't be disturbing but yes, it absolutely will give the anti-vaccination crowd ammunition because they will misinterpret the data (both ignorantly and intentionally)

It's amusing because the approval of Paxlovid has caused an awful lot of non-vaccinated people with covid to start calling looking for the drug (good luck as the supply is limited).  Yet again proving that their opposition to the vaccine had nothing to do with unproven drugs and everything to do with just being assholes.

Not sure what you can sign Giordano for down the road but I would love to see him come home in his last few years. Not the player he once was but ship Holl or Dermott to Seattle to help our blue line.
I hope people will stop ripping Muzzin after watching this..the kids have done a decent job but they sure miss him tonight.

Ehhhhhh.  I’d love to have healthy Muzzin back but he’s been responsible for a lot of bad goals like tonight this year.

If there is one person I’d like to single out tonight it’s Dermott.  Every time the defense gets depleted he has failed to step up and provide anything to push him ahead.  I’m ready to move on from him.

Tavares needs to bury that rebound

11
Frig the NHL.  That is not a kick

12
Was that a high stick from Tavares?

13
What the hell…….

14
Time for Tavares to step up and pot one

15
And now we take an offensive zone penalty
