I think Kampf and Robertson could be better utilized and since we have the forward depth let's spread it out. Kampf/Marner could be a pretty good shutdown line and both Robertson and Kampf have decent finish for Marner's apples. Let's give Robertson and Kampf an opportunity to contribute offensively.

Honestly, a Nylander - Kämpf - Marner line would probably rip.

Quote from: herman on July 19, 2024, 01:20:44 PMI was watching some Matthew Knies highlights and was reminded that Keefe made a Knies-Kampf-Domi line for like 50 min; it got completely snowed under routinely in terms of possession and chances against (high danger ones at that), but ended up with 3 goals for and 0 against lol

I have him earmarked for 23g and 57pts. He just needs to take more shots. Bobby McMann had 3 more shots than Knies last season (118 vs 115) in 24 fewer games played (and a bunch of them on the 4th line). They both popped in 15 goals each and should be able to clear 20 with top-6 usage.

If memory serves they had one good game, maybe a good two periods?

Going off last season's statistics, you get more goals with Domi on Matthews wing, but they give up more goals as well.

It's ok fellas, I got the superb lineup to start next season:

Domi - Matthews - Robertson
Jarnkrok - Nylander - Marner
Knies - Tavares - McMann
Dewar - Kampf - Holmberg

Try Robertson there, give him a real shot. If anything it'll give you a trade chip if he produces to get more serious going into the playoffs.

Ideally you'd want an upgrade on Järnkrok there, maybe Cowan shows he belongs or you have to move Knies up.

I love the idea of Tavares playing sheltered 3rd line minutes with Knies and McMann. I think they would dominate the ice share of their minutes.

4th line is solid. Good defensive players you could utilize against opposing teams top lines in the defensive zone starts.

Kirk's play has really picked up since we started debating him on here. 😃

Quote from: Highlander on July 11, 2024, 07:03:54 PMMcDavid is coming home

I'll be honest, watching McDavid and Matthews playing together would be one of the coolest things ever.

Quote from: Arn on July 09, 2024, 03:50:32 AMI'm sure it's happened but certainly I can't think of the leafs having brothers playing in my time (back the late 90s kind of era).

Shayne Corson and Darcy Tucker were brothers-in-law, but that's about as close as you get from 90's to today.

*They also played together for Montreal.

Quote from: Frank E on July 08, 2024, 01:35:40 PMI'd say the risk is if big brother doesn't like how little brother is being treated RE ice time, linemates, getting sent down, etc... or if it looks like Alex is getting preferential treatment...those things could create some issues/dissention.

That doesn't seem like it would an issue with Willy. He doesn't let much bother him and he seems to understand the business and winning aspects of the league. Unless Alex is actually performing well and getting the shaft, he'd be in board with whatever needs to happen.

That being said, the younger Nylander seems like a prime candidate for a PTO if he doesn't sign somewhere. I'd also have no problem signing him to whatever current buriable max cap hit is ($1.15m, I think) - though that does create potential cap complications, it also makes a waivers claim a little less likely.

Sure, I hear ya, but I only see that happening if the Leafs don't give Alex a fair shake but I don't see that being an issue with this front office. It's worth the risk I guess?

Quote from: Big Daddy on July 08, 2024, 01:10:35 PMI like when brothers get to play together. I remember the Niedermayer brothers playing together and they both kept improving, it always seems both players improve. I'm hoping we see Alex Nylander at camp on a bare minimum PTO

There's no risk signing Alex to a 1-yr/$900k deal, and I do see the potential for a nice reward.

The Nylander - Nylander - Marner line is gonna be lit. 🔥

Quote from: herman on July 05, 2024, 04:40:49 PMDewar has filed for arbitration

AFP Analytics projected 2Yrs x $1.4M
Pretty sure that is more than the Leafs want to pay
I guess they're still hoping they can get a deal done.

This doesn't seem far off. I was thinking between $1.1m and $1.35m x 2.

Get it done!

Quote from: gunnar36 on July 01, 2024, 12:18:21 PMSo we cant find a true #1 goalie so we'll pay our guy a salary that will make him a #1 goalie, problem solved lol.  3.66 millin per for a guy who was 12-11 with a .907%? really?

Valid point. But I think you have to really like Woll's poise when called upon in the biggest moments. I think the biggest fault to the signing is Woll's ability to stay in the net.

Quote from: CarltonTheBear on July 05, 2024, 01:32:23 PMThinking Reaves isn't playing game 1 lol (and most of the games after too).

Save him for the playoffs. 💪

Quote from: L K on July 01, 2024, 04:01:37 PMHey, Gary Bettman sucks.

Joel Quenneville and Stan Bowman were reinstated in the middle of free agency.

I am perturbed. Looking at the contracts signed today, I would have given more money to add Brett Pesce or Sean Walker instead of OEL.

OEL signing is so puzzling to me. I'd have him 4th on the Leafs depth chart at LD. I really don't get it.

Stolarz signing is just what the team needed. A+. Liked Domi and Tanev as well. Hakanpää good too.

I approve Murray too.
