I am actually more up for this coming season than for a long while, I like the additions and nice to Roberston and Knies working out.  Hope they can keep making intelligent choices  (excepting Reaves)

Main Leafs Hockey Talk / Re: 2023 Training Camp Thread

So far:

I think Minten and Cowan have fine futures with the team, Cowan needs at least one more season with the Knights. Very impressed with Liljegren, Timmons (no way he doesn't start with this team), Kokonnen has played well, was impressed with Klingburg.   Giordano is washed up, and take Reeves with you on they way out. Also close to retirement: Brodie, Tavares.

Also impressing; Robertson, Knies, Gregor,Domi, Bertuzzi. And Nylander of course.

Topi needs a good year in the AHL of seasoning, glad the pressure is off him a bit to let him develop.

Hirvanon need a season in the AhL at least.

Goaltending so far, no comment.

Quote from: OldTimeHockey on September 27, 2023, 11:44:29 AMEvery time I watch Lafferty, I question whether or not he's a legitimate NHL player.

In hindsight, I wish Dubas had signed Acciari to a 2 yr deal and not Lafferty

With Gambrell now concussed and Janrock injured perhaps having Lafferty's awesome speed is not such a bad thing.

Quote from: herman on September 25, 2023, 07:41:24 PMCowan looks AHL capable already. The Brayden Point comp doesn't feel that far off — certainly applicable in style and mindset.
One of the best players on the ice, don't think he is going to be on the Knights for a long time.

Toronto Raptors / Re: Raptors fire Nurse

Quote from: L K on August 21, 2023, 11:06:15 PMSo who is the new Raptors coach going to be.  If there is anything to the lawsuit the Knicks filed today there is no way Darko doesn't get suspended/let go.
I don't want Darko to go, he seems like he will be a very good coach. With a great name!

When does Tavares come of the books?

Former Leafs: Ex-Files / Bobby Baun has passed

Bobby Baun has passed, he was a good friend of my Dad and used to come to our house when I was a wee kid.
The Boomer is gone.

I hope
I'll double that, if he can stay healthy I can see him on a line with Knies/Holmberg/Robertson.  That has a nice feel to it.

Great musician and songwriter.  Sad news, first Gordie and now Robbie.

Quote from: Arn on August 04, 2023, 07:30:27 AMI broke my ankle at the weekend.

It was a suboptimal thing to be doing.
OUCH, sorry to hear that Arn.

Quote from: cabber24 on July 26, 2023, 02:26:27 PMThe Leafs cannot force someone onto LTIR can they? I guess they do have their own doctors on the payroll. If Murray disagrees I would imagine players and their union will take notice. Burying a 29-year-old is not a good look.
At 8 million you can bury me!
