Could still happen!

Quote from: Rob on February 12, 2024, 11:03:44 AMIf you watch the replay in slow-Mo (pun intended) you can see the principal point of contact is Greig's arm.  Greig raises his arm, directing Reilly's stick up and into his head.

This was mentioned up thread by another poster, I feel it needs to be reiterated because Rielly didn't skate over and give Greig a two hander over the head.

If you watch that clip in 0.25 super slo-Mo (again pun intended) it gives a good view.

The guys at 32 Thoughts give a pretty fair and clear headed take on this, and that's all that needs be said really.

Ha, I'm listening now and Elliotte says Rielly should have just punched him in the face too.

Intigator penalty with less than 5 minutes left in the game is an automatic 1 game suspension?

Maybe, I'm not sure, but 1 is better than 6+!

Yeah, Rielly should probably have just dropped the gloves and popped him a couple in the face. Then there wouldn't have been a suspension at all.

Down with headshots!

Refs call the game properly and Rielly doesn't do that at the end is my bet.

Tavares should have a couple by now, holy moly.

I only hate about 30 teams and the Islanders are definitely one of them.

You can't sell, there's always a chance. But they shouldn't buy either. Trading to improve the team for both now and years to come maybe, but the trade deadline is not the best for that.

Quote from: Bill_Berg_is_pissed_off on January 25, 2024, 10:59:40 AMHe has better numbers with the Leafs than he did with New York! I guess expecting the best possible outcome when you make decisions is one way to go.

Yeah, the Rangers caused all of this by trading Reaves away and making him look semi-playable in Minnesota. Why couldn't they have just held onto him!

Don't get me wrong, it was a horrible contract from the get go that never should have been signed by Treliving. But I didn't think he'd reach *completely unplayable and arguably worst player in the entire league* bad until year 2.

Lol Treliving was fine with bottom five for year one and year two be damned! But it's the intangibles that matter I guess.

Quote from: Bill_Berg_is_pissed_off on January 24, 2024, 06:56:31 PMWhat did they expect? He's playing exactly the way everyone expected him to play.

Just wanted to jump in here and say his on-ice results have actually been like significantly worse than what they were last year with Minnesota:

45.99 CF%, 2.00 GA/60, 51.28 GF%, 2.33 xGA/60, 48.67 xGF%

vs. this year in Toronto:

42.86 CF%, 5.10 GA/60, 13.33 GF%, 2.81 xGA/60, 37.07 xGF%

His deployment in Minnesota was also much less favourable than it's been in Toronto. We could definitely have tolerated a season of Reaves if he was performing at his Minny numbers (his presence on the 4th line would still have made Kampf's defensive talents a complete waste but that's another story). He was, at the very least, somewhat kinda sorta playable I guess. That's not even remotely the case now.

So that's just to say whatever anyone expected him to play like in his first season as a Leaf, he's almost certainly actually been much worse than that.

He has better numbers with the Leafs than he did with New York! I guess expecting the best possible outcome when you make decisions is one way to go.
