Quote from: Bullfrog on January 25, 2024, 01:22:48 PM$5M is probably low for JT.

I remember this was talked about here a few weeks or maybe a month ago and I think at the time I felt like JT's number, with the natural assumption that he'd be taking some sort of hometown discount but not play for basically free because he's still a really good player, would come in around $5-7mil. With that said things haven't exactly been going too hot for him since then, and he's now on pace for just 60 points this season. If that's where he's at over the next 1.5 seasons then I think I'd even take that range down just a touch.

I'm dreaming but I'm hoping they allocate 6M to Tavares and he gives 3M to his buddy Stamkos and they both retire together when McDavid signs and gets the Captaincy..
Anyways

Great to see 2 of ours on the roster!!!
Also, can't remember the last time Canada had an undrafted player on the roster.
So does that mean any team is able to sign him if he has a great tournament?
I'm speaking of Owen Allard from Renfrew,ON

Quote from: Dappleganger on July 27, 2023, 03:32:18 PMHere's what I have for a Leafs opening day roster. Timmons waived.

Maybe McMann in for Holmberg?

It's obvious something is going to happen so here's my 2 cents
If Nylander is the one going out then our Capfriendly space is 5M
If we could trade him to NYR then they would need to free 5M off their Capso I was thinking Nylander gets to go play with Zibanejad and fans have something in return for losing Kane and Tarasenko in return the 5M we take back could be Barclay Goodrow C/LW (3.65) and Braden Schneider RD (0.8) and Will Cuylle.  They won't be able to sign these guys and pay Kakko and Lafreniere and they already have Fox and Trouba playing RD. That gets us under the cap and gets us to a 23 man roster.

Knies-Matthews-Marner
Bertuzzi-Tavaras-Domi
Goodrow-Kampf-Jarnkrok
Reeves-Holmberg-Lafferty

Rielly-Brodie
McCabe-Klingberg
Giordano-Liljgren
Schneider-Timmins
Samsonov
Woll

Would be really hard to see Nylander go but Goodrow would be good now and Schneider will be good soon and Cuylle will be really good soon

Anyways.........

Quote from: azzurri63 on May 05, 2023, 04:20:21 PMSo didn't see the play but what occurred after the incident? I'm assuming nothing with this crew. I say throw Simmonds in and if the game is out of hand either way lay somebody out. Always said this team has no cajones and when a rookie gets treated like that somebody should have stepped in at least said something let Bennett know that his time will come. I know the game was close so no time for a dumb penalty. I wasn't able to watch the game so I don't know the full story so maybe someone can enlighten me.
I fell the problem is with the commissioner in that him wanting to grow the game in markets that don't give a shot about hockey to make his rich friends even richer.
When the instigator rule was introduced in 1992 the rate of concussion was .455/100 NHL games in comparison to 20/21 it was at 6.3/100 NHL games. That's an increase of 1285%. NHL used to be the toughest sport. Now you have dirtbags like Bennett running around cross checking and slamming guys and not even looking over his shoulder to see who is coming in to sort him out. It's been out of the game long enough it's time to put it back in. Problem is it gets voted on by the owners who don't give a shit if the players are injured because then insurance takes care of the salary I guess. Totally Friged in my opinion. Want to totally clean up the NHL take out that penalty. Guys can literally not stick up for him and respond because taking a 2 min minor these days especially in playoffs can easily determine the outcome of the game. Want the NHL to better, cleaner, faster then take the mat penalty away.
Enough said. Frig

Knies winning this award impressed me but didn't get me all that excited. So I looked up the the few years finalists and Wow there is some very good impactful NHL players in the mix.

Im hoping Rielly/Liljegren

So in the dressing room this morning after pickup,
the guy in the corner who brings the beer throws out some speculation,
which oddly enough actually hits the mark quite a bit, says in one breath
the leafs are trading Kerfoot and Holl to ARI to get Chychrun at 50%
and then sign Scheen.
is this even possible

Since this is just us all guessing or hoping
Sooo...
I would like to see
Knies-Matthews-Josh Anderson
Nylander-Tavares-Marner
Bunting-Kerfoot-Holmberg
Jarnkrok-Kampf-Engvall
ZAR
Rielly-Brodie
Giordano-Holl
Sandin-Liljegren
Scheen-Benn

Can't imagine how they could swing that but I would love to see it.

with Messi being talked about going to Inter Miami could Rinaldo end up in MLS hopefully with TFC

I've got to see Douglas play many times.  He has always reminded me of a bigger stronger Ponikarovsky

Getting Sanford may help in many ways.  He has tons of insight with Vancouver's goalie ranks.  They are already paying big for a 5 year term goalie.  So im curious to see if he talks Dubas into getting RFA DiPietro for Holl maybe.  DiPietro has been good wherever he plays.  Then give Holl's money to Sandin

Campbell is better than Gibson and he's possibly 2 M cheaper.  Would like to see them target Georgiyev as he is a RFA. Probably could sign him to 2.5X3 and have him and Campbell run with it.  He could be our Rask in a way, meaning a guy who was unwanted and then thrived.
