TSN Scout Craig Button:
An imposing centre who can play any situation in the game. Very smart and his awareness is excellent both with and without the puck. Can control the game from the centre ice position in multiple ways. He is very difficult to handle offensively and equally difficult to break down defensively. Has very good skating and puck skills and really understands how to play to his strengths for the benefit of the team. Has shown the ability to raise his level of play at critical times and is a very competitive player.

Leafs Rumours & Speculation / Cal Clutterbuck
June 29, 2013, 02:55:51 PM
Not a rumour or anything, just read that Clutterbuck may be traded this weekend. He is set to be a RFA and the rumoured asking price is a 2nd and a prospect. I think he would fit in nicely on the third line, he has had a cap hit of $1.4 million each of the last three seasons. I'm not so sure about the asking price, depends on what level of prospect they would want.

Just wondering what everyones thoughts are on him.

Non-Hockey Chatter / 2013 Playoff Pickem
April 29, 2013, 06:50:40 AM
Think we did this in the past, can't remember the rules we used, but a basic pick who wins in how many games the series will go and who wins it will work, 1 point per correct guess and 3 points if you correct who scores the game winning goal in the series winning game. You will only get the bonus 3 points if the series length is correct.

Example: Toronto in 6 games and Kessel scoring then series clinching goal.

If Toronto wins the series in 6 games, and Kessel scores the gwg in game 6, would net you 1 point for correctly predicting the series length, and 3 points for predicting Kessel scoring the gwg in game 6.

So if Toronto wins in 7 games and Kessel scores the gwg in game 7, you don't get the bonus points.

Non-Hockey Chatter / purchasing a house
July 17, 2012, 11:39:35 AM
I remeber their being a thread with a ton of info on purchasing a house, which was started years ago but I haven't been able to find it lately. I am currently in the market to buy a house and remember there being a lot of good info in the thread, I have quite a few questions so hopefully someone can help me out here.

What is the best way to go about a mortgage? Check the prime rates and go with the best one? Mortgage broker?

I was told by a friend that every pre-approval, your credit takes a hit, so is it best to only goto one bank?

This is my first step in buying and it may be a rushed process as once I get my release date, depending when it is, I need to find a place and get all the paperwork processed so I can move around my release date. I am really hoping they don't release me until the end of August as I goto college Aug 27th for work and that would give me 10 weeks to look and everything.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

The reason for this thread is that I am going to buy a pair of skates and start skating, maybe try playing hockey on ice, I have no clue what to look for in a pair of skates, any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, any tips on learning how to skate would be appreciated as well :D

Toronto News: After a dominating 7-1 win at home against the Washington Capitals, the Leafs couldn't match that performance the next night in a 3-2 road loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Leafs fell behind early and never recovered, clearly showing weary legs in back-to-back games.

"I thought we were doing fine in the first period," coach Ron Wilson said. "I don't think they had very many scoring chances. But in the second period we didn't have much energy and we didn't work smart."

Tampa Bay News: Down 3-0 at home against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, the Lightning made a strong push in the third period to cut the lead to 3-2.

But a late goal by Ryan Carter short-circuited the comeback in what turned out to be a 4-2 loss to the Devils. Coach Guy Boucher was upset with his team's performance.

"We had some players show up tonight: (Ryan) Shannon, (Martin) St. Louis, (Steve) Downie and (Brett) Connolly," Boucher said. "This game takes a full team effort and tonight we just didn't have enough."
