Let's be real, their only chance at winning you was picking a non conservative as Leader.

I'm not sure that's true. If they had gone with Peter MacKay, I think they would have attracted a fair amount of moderate and even Liberal votes. All they really needed was to nominate a progress conservative voice, rather than one that's backed by the Proud Boys and ran a campaign using divisive slogans like "Take Canada Back." Take it back from who, exactly?

My post was for one poster, who I have read many times. No Conservative would interest him.

Again, I'm not so sure that's true. Bender's a smart individual. I have to imagine a real progressive conservative, backed by a real progressive conservative party, might be able to get his vote under the right circumstance. As he says, he's voted for the party in the past.
I doubt the Progressive in Progressive Conservative has that meaning. It's highly doubtful that person will lead the party in the near future. The person you are looking for is either Liberal, NDP, or Green.

He seems just like another example of the Conservatives thinking that the problem isn't that their policies are unpopular but that their policies just need a different packaging. I get why they prefer someone brash and loud to take on Trudeau after Scheer's failure and Mackay seeming like old, bland news but I still don't see a fresh take on actual policy or engaging people's actual problems with modern conservatism. If anything "Take Canada Back" seems like textbook modern Conservatism's obsession with casting some citizens as "real Canadians" and others as somehow being imposters or interlopers.

I'm not against voting conservative hypothetically, and I have voted for every major party in the past, but I'm tired of the "take back" "MAGA" "Decades to get back" etc. etc. populist scare mongering. It's ridiculous.

Don't pretend the scare mongering doesn't go both ways.

It does, but we're not talking about the other parties right now, we're talking about the Cons. And they could've started on a different footing, but no, this is the footing they chose. Are they trying to win me as a voter or not?

Let's be real, their only chance at winning you was picking a non conservative as Leader.

These things can't be correct, Damien Cox has informed me this was a bad trade.

Dudas seemed to allude to the possibility that he would not be using this pick when he spoke today. Guessing he has more irons in the fire.

I've moved past fighting in hockey a long time ago....But.. ..I could put that aside to watch Foligno, Marchand, and such get pounded.

I love that little, shrug, and then 'what are you lying there for, it was just a boarding 3' from the dasher and a light stick to the neck. Don't be a wuss.'

How doesn't anyone on the ice jump him?

Watching a similar play in a Canucks game when Sutter was hit similarly, when Beagle wrestled the Blues player tge Blues end up on a PP. Refs are really bad at this part.

Mitch Marner, more points than Brayden Point in 7 less games.

And it only cost the Leafs $4 million more.

Well, no matter what Matthews and Tavares have delivered the goods this series.

And Andersen.

Really?

He's been leaky. And I'm not just talking about that terrible goal.

Yeah, he's got to stop that. But he's had an excellent playoffs.

We lost game one to a soft goal and the clincher right now is a soft goal.  I don't care how many you save if the ones you let in are soft and cost us the game.
Leafs didn't score the 1st game and so far haven't scored in this one either. Can't win if you don't score. JT will be thinking about that open net the rest of the summer.

But you can not lose without scoring. The Columbus goalies have done a much better job of giving their team that chance.  A soft goal every game does not inspire confidence.

Columbus has already had a few big saves out of Elvis.   They aren't playing bad but for a team facing elimination they certainly aren't sending a message that they want to keep playing

They have already missed half of their summer at the lake, would be nice to salvage half of August.

Boy, that really was a nasty crosscheck from Dubois there. He reached back and threw that with such effort. I'm sure, though, that the league will instead want to look at Spezza's infraction. I mean his stick blade almost touched the Columbus guy's stick for crying out loud!
I just looked at that cross check again. Holy lord that was brutal. You wonder if Kadri would've been suspended for that.

Amazing what slowing it down does. IMO it looked like nothing during the play and really neither did Muzzin falling. Slow it down and its a bad crosscheck and an injury.

Where are the guys that were predicting a Columbus sweep? Leafs managed what Tampa couldn't in 4 tries last year.

Sorry I hurt my ankle jumping back on the wagon.

PS: I wasn't one of them but couldn't resist the joke.

I'm not sure we are going to score in the series ??
