Main Leafs Hockey Talk / Help me catch up!
September 13, 2017, 10:00:23 PM

Hey guys

Basically after 33 years of barely missing a leaf game I was unable to follow the team the last 2 seasons and missed so much. Aside from scores, headlines, highlights, Austins debut and the playoffs I was completely out of the loop.(the game day threads helped me get a fix here and there)

So now that my life is back to semi normal and my blue and white heart is ready to consume the new season I realize I barely know the team like I used to.

Aside from stats what weird/fun fact/interesting story/quirky things should a die hard leaf fan like myself know about these fresh faced Leafs I'll be watching this season?

Non-Hockey Chatter / Just For Laughs 42 in Toronto
September 15, 2012, 10:44:14 AM

The JFL 42 comedy festival is in Toronto from the 21st till the 28th of September.

I'm a fan of stand up comedy and am going to a few shows: Joe Rogan, Amy Schumer, Reggie Watts, Paton Oswalt, Tom Segura, Todd Glass, Ari Shaffir and the grand finale on the last night is Louis C.K!  I am getting excited.

Anyone here going to see some comedy?

Non-Hockey Chatter / RIP Michael Clarke Duncan

The star of the Green Mile has passed away. Only 54 years young, he had been in hospital since mid July because of a heart attack.

A massive man but he seemed to me to be a gentle giant. Rip.

Looks like David Toews will join his brother in Chicago. The Islanders traded him there for future considerations.

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks have acquired forward David Toews from the New York Islanders in exchange for future considerations.

The move was announced Friday. The 21-year-old Toews is the younger brother of Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews.

Originally selected by the Islanders 66th overall in the 2008 entry draft, Toews spent two seasons at North Dakota. He recorded nine goals and 17 assists in 55 NCAA games with the Fighting Sioux.

He had 20 goals, 28 assists and 16 penalty minutes in 60 regular-season games with the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings last season. He had two goals and five assists in six playoff games.

Non-Hockey Chatter / The Official TV Thread

Got to have a TV thread! 8)

By word of mouth and the original tv thread I heard a lot of rave reviews for Breaking Bad. I finally got around to watching it yesterday. I'm only two episodes in but those two episodes were fantastic.

With three seasons ready to go on the media player I will probably blast through this show in the next few weeks.

Next show I'm going to check out after Breaking Bad is going to be the Wire.
