As most people here can tell message boards/forums aren't exactly the #1 way for people on the internet to talk to each other like they were 10-20 years ago. So I'm not sure what happened to that site but the simplest explanation is probably unfortunately the correct one.

I don't actively participate in either but I see some parts of them through just casual internet usage. I think reddit gets a bad rep in general, it's really not that bad but I'd miss the more personal interactions that you probably don't get there because of it's size.
