PIT
•Casey DeSmith (3-4-1, 2.88 GAA, .909 Sv%) will likely start for the Penguins
•Pittsburgh is also playing their 2nd game in 2 days. They're coming off a 4-1 victory over the Flyers, which was their 5th straight win

•Conor Timmins skated with the team at practice for the first time on Thursday but is not expected to make his Leafs debut immediately
•Wayne Simmonds is expected to play in his 5th game this season and first since November 5th

MIN
•Marc-Andre Fleury (6-4-1, 2.80 GAA, .906 Sv%) will likely start for the Wild
•Minnesota activated Fleury from the IR on Thursday. He had missed their past 3 games with an upper-body injury
•It's not clear if Ryan Reaves, who was acquired by the Wild on Thursday, will be making his debut with the team yet. If he does it might not a coincidence that Simmonds is entering the line-up for the Leafs

Game notes
NYI
•Ilya Sorokin (7-5-0, 2.41 GAA, .925 Sv%) will likely start for the Islanders
•The Islanders are off to a better than expected start to the season as they currently sit 3rd in the Metro division. They have been tapering off a little bit recently though and their underlying numbers aren't particularly strong either so I wouldn't expect them to stay in a playoff position for very long
•The real Mat Barzal might have finally showed up this season again. He has 19 assists and 21 points in 19 games this season. The last time he had a PPG season was in his rookie year

TOR

•Pittsburgh's season has not gotten off to a great start as they currently sit 2nd last in what looks to be a very competitive Metro division this season
•The teams big guns seem to be doing their part: Crosby has 15 points in 13 games, Malkin 13 points in 13 games, and Guentzel 12 points in 9 games
•Former Leaf Kasperi Kapanen was a healthy scratch for the first time this season in Pittsburgh's last game. Kapanen has just 1 goal and 5 points in 12 games this season

TOR
•Erik Kallgren (1-1-2, 2.76 GAA, .904 Sv%) will likely start for the Maple Leafs

Game notes
ARI
•Karel Vejmelka (0-2-0, 5.54 GAA, .884 Sv%) will likely start for the Coyotes
•The definitely not tanking for Connor Bedard Arizona Coyotes are 0-2 to start their season while being outscored 5-12
•Travis Boyd leads all Coyotes forwards in ice-time averaging 20:00 in their first 2 games, while Nick Ritchie leads the team in goals with 2

TOR
•Ilya Samsonov (2-0-0, 2.00 GAA, .926 Sv%) will likely start for the Maple Leafs
•With Murray on LTIR Toronto had cap space to call up some extra bodies for the roster: Robertson, Simmonds, Mete
•Of the 3 Robertson is the one most likely to crack the line-up. He skated with Tavares and Malgin at practice on Sunday with Nylander absent because of an illness. If Nylander is able to play it's not confirmed which one of Malgin or Robertson would play/sit

OTT
•Anton Forsberg will likely start for the sens
•The sens opened their season on Thursday with a 4-1 loss against the Buffalo Sabres
•Nikita Zaitsev was a healthy scratch in game 1, and is expected to be in the press box again on Saturday. Zaitsev is in the 2nd last season of the 7-year, $4.5mil AAV contract he signed with the Leafs back in 2017

TOR
•Matt Murray will likely start for the Maple Leafs
•Keefe said on Thursday that he hadn't decided on a starting goalie for this game yet, but I think it's probably likely he gives Murray the first start against his old team

Final preseason game in 2022. Murray is scheduled to start. Expect a reversal from Friday's game: Toronto will likely have a NHL-heavy roster while Detroit rests most of their regulars. Lines below are from the non-playing group at practice on Friday:

A fairly barebones roster from the Leafs here. Samsonov will start in net. Sandin will make his preseason debut. And Robertson and Malgin (with likely Holmberg in between) will headline the forward group. Expect a full NHL line-up in the Saturday game.

Habs haven't announced their line-up yet but with the game being in Montreal they're likely to dress their quality NHLer.
