Now that the schedule is out, what better time to drop the first chunk.  6 of first 10 games are on the road.  Do better NHL.

OK, I've sufficiently recovered from the playoff debacle against the Habs to get up off the matt and make a new proper 10 game chunk thread.  First 3 games will feel like they're still in the all-Canadian division but it opens up after that.

PLAYOFFS

Yes,  8 game chunks this time around to satisfy that lovely 56 game divisible schedule.  Details to follow.

OK this schedule was weird when I was looking at it.
Some parts look like a baseball sched with 3 game series against the same team.  Will be interesting to see how it unfolds.

I don't know if this is good or bad for the Leafs, but I always liked MacLean after he trolled the Habs with the "player 61" incident

Looks like Mikheyev is done for the season. Tendons, artery severed. Damn hope he makes a full recovery. Seemed like such a nothing play.

Former Leafs: Ex-Files / Russ Courrnall

He's on a podcast with some comedian. I heard about it from some ads on City; pretty crude humor, lots of swearing so you're forewarned.  Some of the old Courtnall hockey stories are hilarious though. Episode 4 he shares a few John Brophy tales, they are something to say the least.

ANNNND I misspelled Courtnall in the title!

Oh baby!!

It's funny how all Leafs trade rumours are centered around bad Lamiorello contracts. I get that Zaitsev asked for a trade but still, the 2 deals we absolutely hate are Marleau and Zaitsev and now both are trade rumors.

Main Leafs Hockey Talk / Is it panic time yet?
January 19, 2019, 10:49:35 AM
A month ago I wouldn't have believed the Leafs could possibly miss the playoffs this season. We have John Tavares!  We have Auston Matthews, we have Mitch Marner!

Well, here we are, a Habs win tonight and Leafs are in a wildcard spot.  I understand Leafs have 3 games in hand over the Habs after tonight, but the recent stretch of play doesn't fill me with confidence that they'll win those games in hand.

I understand the Leafs are generally a young team, and there's still growing pains to an extent, but this team is REALLY under performing right now.  If, and I say IF the Leafs were to miss the playoffs this season, does the axe fall on Babcock?  Dubas has only been on the job less than a season, so it's not as if he's made wholesale changes to the roster (other than adding one of the top centermen in the league), so the blame doesn't fall on him.  Is Babcock doing enough to get these guys ready to play?  Are his systems up to date an in tune with the skills he has on the roster?

Will this thread look ridiculous in a month's time if the Leafs go on a run and re-establish 2nd in the conference by a fair margin?  All good questions.
