•Ilya Samsonov - Knee - Injured Reserve

Game notes
TOR
•Erik Kallgren (2-2-4, 2.87 GAA, .891 Sv%) will start for the Maple Leafs
•No confirmations, but don't be surprised if any or even all of Toronto's scratches on Friday find their way into the line-up on the 2nd half of this back to back

PIT
•Casey DeSmith (3-4-1, 2.88 GAA, .909 Sv%) will likely start for the Penguins
•Pittsburgh is also playing their 2nd game in 2 days. They're coming off a 4-1 victory over the Flyers, which was their 5th straight win

I've said this before but Mete really does make everyone else on the ice look like just bad skaters.

With Rielly out for quite a bit, if Sandin doesn't really stand out on PP1 I'd love to see the Leafs try playing 5 forwards on the powerplay. Have Marner on the point. He's often the facilitator and handles zone entries anyway. Gets Matthews and Nylander on each flank for him to dish to, with Tavares and maybe Bunting in the middle.

Quote from: Zee on November 25, 2022, 01:36:48 PMMete-Hollowell looks like a preseason pairing...yikes

3 top-4 defencemen out (Rielly, Brodie, Muzzin), 2 depth defencemen out (Benn, Dahlstrom). Hollowell is probably #12 on the Leafs organizational depth chart right now. Hopefully Brodie isn't out much longer and Timmins can step in soon and look like a NHLer.

2pm afternoon game for anyone who didn't notice!

Already confirmed he'll sit. They want him to have a minute to settle in a bit more first.

Game notes
TOR
•Matt Murray (3-1-1, 2.41 GAA, .926 Sv%) will start for the Maple Leafs
•Conor Timmins skated with the team at practice for the first time on Thursday but is not expected to make his Leafs debut immediately
•Wayne Simmonds is expected to play in his 5th game this season and first since November 5th

MIN
•Marc-Andre Fleury (6-4-1, 2.80 GAA, .906 Sv%) will likely start for the Wild
•Minnesota activated Fleury from the IR on Thursday. He had missed their past 3 games with an upper-body injury
•It's not clear if Ryan Reaves, who was acquired by the Wild on Thursday, will be making his debut with the team yet. If he does it might not a coincidence that Simmonds is entering the line-up for the Leafs

Quote from: A Weekend at Bernier's on November 24, 2022, 01:39:31 PMIs there a sense whether Timmins is able to play in the near term?  Is he healthy / able / capable to step in?  If not, what's the projected timeframe?

He just finished a 6-game conditioning stint in the AHL. Health wise I imagine he's cleared to play pretty much immediately. It'd be up to the coaching staff to decide if they want to get him some more practices in before playing.

Some much needed blue line help, at least depth wise.

Maybe the board just needs to take some breaks more often!
