Main Leafs Hockey Talk / Re: Media Thread
« on: Today at 10:30:59 AM »
Damn, now we're just down to 8 reporters posting lines at Toronto's practices.

But actually a beat reporters job can be kinda boring/repetitive but I think she did a good job injecting some life into the role.

For those wondering.

Game Notes

SJ
•Hill (2-0-0, 1.50 GAA, .932 Sv%) will start for the Sharks
•San Jose is off to a very surprising 3-0 start to the season, but a slightly easy schedule may have played a role in that as they've beat Winnipeg, Montreal, and Ottawa
•William Eklund may be a player to keep an eye on. The 7th overall pick in the 2021 draft just turned 19 last week and has 3 points in his first 3 games
•The Sharks will be playing their 2nd game of a back to back and their 3rd game in 4 days

TOR
•Hutchinson will start for the Leafs
•The Leafs are playing their 1st game of a back to back after having 3 days off

Injuries

•Alexander Barabanov - Lower Body - Questionable Friday
•Evander Kane - Brain - Suspended

•Petr Mrazek - Groin - Injured Reserve

Well that didn't last long. Wonder if Tampa gets him back now that Kucherov is out (or if anyone higher than them grabs him).

Who had the brilliant idea to start a hockey game at 6PM tomorrow?

Especially for an opponent whose local fans are 3 hours behind.

6
Some people have been super hard on his start and the points aren't there and admittedly sure he isn't playing at his absolute best, but I still think he could have pretty easily had goals in each of his first 3 games if some bounces went just a tiny bit more his way. The 4th game was a little different because that was all Matthews but if Auston finished on one of his chances he could have had additional points there. So all in all I don't think there's much to worry about with Marner right now.

Nah, Tkachuk knew exactly what he was doing there. I think a penalty is definitely warranted. Players on the bench can't interfere with the puck, and the whistle hadn't blown yet. What would have happened if that was a slightly more debatable over the glass penalty and a player blocked it?

Muzzin Holl isn’t working right now.  They are both really struggling.

Holl likely played a game or two under the weather, and Muzzin's probably dealing with something too considering he was given a maintenance day earlier in the week. Hopefully that explains some of that.
