No update on Nylander or McMann at all. A bit concerning. I thought the Bruins looked dejected at the end of the game. Never seen that look on a Bruin face ever. We can beat them.

I really hope we can beat the Bruins, but like others I am not ate up about it. I think with the work Brad T has done is embrace building a big effective D. That is the next step, personally I think our real window will opens next year and runs for quite a while. We need Woll to step up to his earlier play and bring in the Wildebeast next year as well. I think that could be a real goaltending duo for our future.

In the meantime I hope the guys surprise me and give us all a good ride into the playoffs.

I would point out that the Cardinals NFL stadium is located directly beside the Gila Rink. Plenty of very good resto's around the venue, a nice place to spend some time. I am sad to see them move.

Quote from: Rob on April 15, 2024, 11:28:09 AMBT seems to be all in on the "Wookies On Skates" D core.
Think of the wing span on 2 6'5" guys as players enter the D zone.

Quote from: herman on April 14, 2024, 04:09:41 PMI was going to joke about Treliving looking to re-live the Mark Hunter's Large Adult Sons era of defense building, and it's literally one of Hunter's picks.
Ya and wouldn't it be great if he becomes a real asset to the team
I would have to take back some of the bad things I said about Hunter

I know a lot of people on this board wanted this move. I invested a lot of income over the years going to see the Leafs and other teams play the Yotes.  I had some really good times and am sad to see the franchise go.  I don't think the ownership group was paying there bills. Pity, as another group may have secured the Loop site and it would have worked there.  Salt Lake is one weird place

what are the Cap considerations if Murray does come back?  Is it even possible?

Leafs are signing Webber and it looks like he is join the big team for the last two games.  The article in the Athletic making it seem like he may see some game action and if he does well, maybe even time in the playoffs. Wow. I thought this guy would go to the Marlie's and season there for bit.

Just noticed that Noah Chadwick has been assigned to the Marlies (now Lethbridge is out of the playoffs) and is practising with the team. Don't think he will see any game action but good to work with the players and the development team.

lol.

So really, the only person on the planet who wants NHL hockey in Arizona is Gary Bettman.
The Mayor is a dick. I know the parcel of land in question, right beside Desert Ridge Mall (a really nice mall), also boarders a very chic shopping street and resto's a that have become a bit of a white elephant. The Arena would cure that problem big time. Believe me, the site is perfect.

Do we really think that Arizona is a case of "if we build it, they will come"? The team has not had an average attendance of over 15k since 2005/2006. And even with that, they've only had 5 seasons (out of 26), where they've been above that 15,000 mark. Perhaps 13-15k is sufficient to make the team viable, but considering they spent 2012-2020 in that range and there was constant talk of the team being broke, I'd say it isn't.
When the Coyotes started they were downtown and doing the numbers (a tough venue to reach in its own right).  The new local is way better than downtown or Gila for that matter. Hockey will work there.  The entire area, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Peoria, Tempe, Chandler, Glendale, Mesa, Gilbert are exploding with growth, most are coming in from the N.E where hockey is huge. So in five more years with the current rate of growth the local will be one of the most populated area's in the US.  The market will grow into the team. And I have been around the area enough to know that hockey is important there.  And don't forget Matthews and Knies impact on the kids that live there. They are hero's. What is saying Salt Lake or Houston will be any better?  Then your building from scratch.
