Didn't see the games but the stats are not encouraging.
He hadn't played in over a year and had bilateral hip surgery. The fact he played 3 games is a huge win.

I'd sign him to either some kind of league minimum deal, with maybe performance bonuses (can you do that?) or at least bring him to camp with a view to earning a contract.

Good to see Mark Stone's second consecutive miraculous recovery in time for Game 1 of the playoffs.

Quote from: Chris on April 21, 2024, 02:45:31 PMObviously you try to trade him (Marner) but if you can't make it work for whatever reason, then yes it is OK to walk away.

If things go really badly this round (Leafs lose in 4 or 5) then probably the first thing is get rid of Keefe and see if someone else can push this group a little further. In that case you don't rush to re-sign Marner, let him play out next season and see where things are.

It's a kind of addition by subtraction. Yes you don't get assets in the form of players back, but you do get cap space so...

I'm with you on the rest. Tbh unless the Leafs make the conference finals I could see Keefe being under threat just because he isn't Terliving's guy as much as anything.

Long way to go yet in this series though.

Kings in 7. This is my first round upset prediction.

The Saints are a go!

That Boston team doesn't look great and doesn't put anywhere near the level of fear in as the bruins teams of a few years ago.

That's a tough ninth for Swanson and Mayza.

7th in the league at .526 W% at this point, but it doesn't feel like they're a playoff team right now.

Every now and again there are signs I think that they could be. But then there's too many things like last night (and I know the bullpen was light on availability and guys were making first appearances etc).

First time I've really seen Soto. He's a pleasure to watch. Shame he's a Yankee.
