Always fun to see the Leafs win after getting jobbed by the stripes.

Rules should also try to minimize people having to make judgement calls on intention. Just call every penalty with less than 2 min remaining in OT as an auto penalty shot. Avoids more shootouts. Refs will stow their whistles anyway on most contact plays but delay of game infractions and bench minors are pretty cut and dry.

I wouldn't be surprised if the refs were unaware of this rule. Whoever was the colour guy kept going on about what a smart move this was for the Rangers, so he obviously didn't know about this rule as well.

Nothing surprises me anymore with nhl refs.

Remember when we were kinda making fun of the leafs and their regulation wins - well the bruins are atop the division on the strength of 14 OT losses.

I still don't get how we're days away from March and the leafs have played the habs once.

Quote from: Joe on February 19, 2024, 08:57:34 PMI don't know if anyone is watching Ted but it's a funny immature show. Pretty much live action family guy.

I love it! I loved the first movie, didn't care for the second one. But the show is excellent. The actors are all amazing and make the characters believable and (in most cases) sympathetic. And I think there's just enough heart in the show as well (the bullying episode and the Christmas episode especially) to make it, IMO, more well rounded than FG is. That scene in the church, where Ted is 'arguing' with the priest just had me howling with laughter...culminating in Ted pressing his chest and the other voice says "I love you".. I just LMAO.

It's funny that you mention that scene. I had just sent a clip of that exact exchange to my brother to try and convince him to watch the show.

You need a hug? And for the last time nobody said Bert was effective. The comment strictly dealt with his effort and that was the reason he escaped some grief from fans compared to Willy who does get lazy at times.

Good lord calm down.

Quote from: Joe on February 17, 2024, 11:17:14 PMVasilevskiy gave up 9 to the panthers.

Seems odd that they would keep him in for all 9.

He gave up 6 of them, he was pulled after 2 periods.

Oh they must have updated the boxscore. When I saw it last night it had all 9 goals on Vasilevskiy.

Quote from: Joe on February 13, 2024, 08:05:02 PMYou know for all the shit people would give nylander for his salary and his effort/production compared to the almost nothing you hear about Bertuzzi and his salary/production is puzzling.

Might have to do with being one of the highest paid players in the league. People probably expect more.

He was not at his current contract.

Ya I know his new deal doesn't kick in till next year but he was given a massive contract starting next year and all of a sudden his game went for a crap. Some people probably took offence to that. That's Willy in a nutshell and will always have that tag on him. You'll be hearing it for a long time. He's got a whirlwind amount of talent but some days he is completely non existent.

I am quite clearly  talking about nylander over the years up to now and not talking about his new contract. That was not part of my point at all.

Quote from: Chris on February 13, 2024, 10:54:51 PMMoore and Marchment, yeah...the Leafs (i.e. Keefe) should probably have gotten more out of them.

Marchment played 4 games for the leafs.

Lots have complained about Bert's production. Difference is Bert's effort is seldom lacking. Willy on the other hand

I don't agree with that at all. I've not seen anything from Bertuzzi away from the scoring side that's in any way impressive.
Bert never lacks effort is the point.

Well I don't know what I'm watching but I've not seen some stellar end to end play from Bertuzzi.
