Quote from: Frank E on March 21, 2024, 08:09:02 AMThat was totally intentional by both Gregor and Wilson.

No call on Gregor...double minor for Wilson (whose was more obviously deliberate).

I don't think the Leafs have anything to complain about here...they got 4 minutes of PP time when it could easily have been only 2 or simply coincidental minors.

Wilson gets a total pass here. He was just reacting to the stick jab by Gregor.

Woll wasn't the back-up against the Flyers, which is interesting...

Brodie needs to sit. Don't know what else to say.

That was absolutely terrible. I'm not sure how upset to be because I've seen the Leafs do that sort of come from behind against other teams, but still, pretty pitiful.

Votto still had a .747 OPS last season (100 points higher than Dalton Varsho) so there's hope he can be a useful piece.

I'd take Brodie out of the lineup before Benoit.

Marner torqued his knee on that hilarious non-shot-on-the-empty-net when he came back around the side.

This should be fine against Montreal, but it can get dicey against the playoff opponents if we can't stretch 3 attack lines.
I actually like these lines. Knies and McMann should get good matchups, although not sure about Kampf at 3C but why not try it. Interested to see what Domi can do on the wing with JT.
And Kyper actually mentioned Marner's injury yesterday and when asked by Bourne, he did the raised eyebrow, head tilt and said he heard it could be dicey. Wouldn't elaborate. Let's hope it's not serious. And speaking of that hilarious missed empty netter, Marner said he was shocked he received a pass there...wasn't expecting it from Benoit lol.

Kampf is a big body and can cycle, keep the puck down low in the offensive zone. Let's see what Knies and McMann do do on this line. They're all big. Hopefully they'll use their size and make it difficult on their opponent.

I do think Knies has looked good on the top line even if the points/goals have not been there.

I do wonder how a, clearly pass-first, player like Domi would look on the top line with his speed.

Quote from: Bill_Berg_is_pissed_off on March 08, 2024, 09:12:34 AMI see some debate, and I'm generally curious. McCabe crosschecked two different players at two different times. So say that's two penalties, should not be a 5 on 3? I always thought of a double minor as a single infraction that's worth more than 2 min.

Assume the refs didn't confuse McCabe for Knies in this situation, should it still not have been a 5 on 3? What if I high stick a guy and then 2 min of play later, refs arm is sore, I trip another guy. Is that a double minor? Seems weird if it was a double minor. IF another play did that trip it would be a 5 on 3.

McCabe's penalties should have resulted in a 4-minute, 5-on-4, power-play.

It's funny because the exact situation happened later in the game (where one player received two penalties on the same play) against the Bruins and the refs were able to call it correctly.

Edit: What GT said.

This is what I like to see.

Quote from: Dappleganger on March 07, 2024, 10:01:01 AMI'm going to need the Leafs to win this tonight. No more excuses. They know what to expect from Boston. Adjust. Execute. Play like you care.

I mean, a flu keeping players out of the lineup is a pretty decent excuse. Matthews didn't look right last night probably due to illness and I doubt he gets better after playing the first night of a back to back.

Quote from: Highlander on March 07, 2024, 11:27:40 AMDon't even know this guy.  A brief rundown would be appreciated. I am not a Twitter person.

Big. Defence first. Went on two long playoffs runs with St. Louis and Montreal recently. The kind of player who has more value in the playoffs than the regular season.

Quote from: CarltonTheBear on March 07, 2024, 11:25:23 AMI don't really get this. With a healthy D we have:

Rielly-Lyubushkin
Brodie-Liljegren
Benoit-McCabe
Giordano
Timmins
Lagesson

Is burning a 3rd and a 5th rounder worth I guess bumping Benoit out of the line-up and possibly losing Lagesson and/or Timmins to waivers?

Maybe Brodie is being bumped from the line-up? (And should be IMHO)
