CHL & NCAA Hockey / 2022 World Junior Championships
December 26, 2021, 06:35:48 PM
Finland didn't look overly impressive against the Germans earlier.

Russian goaltending looks atrocious. Askarov looking less and less like a 1st round pick.

All Sports But Hockey / F1
August 28, 2021, 12:40:11 PM
So there's a topic on Grosjean's crash but I didn't see a main F1 thread.

I've been watching Drive to Survive a lot lately and I'm honestly shocked at how much I'm enjoying it. To a point where I'm going to get up early tomorrow to watch the Belgian Grand Prix. Any other F1 fans here? Anything you can tell to a noob?

Main Leafs Hockey Talk / Maple Leafs Baby Photos Article?
November 13, 2014, 01:24:03 PM
I remember seeing an article showing baby photos of the Leafs a couple years ago. Grabbo and Mac were still with the team.

We're doing a baby photo guessing game at work and I think guessing the leafs would be fun.

I just can't find the article anymore! I think it was on the Toronto Star, but I don't really remember. If someone can help much appreciated :)

Non-Hockey Chatter / The Trips and Travels Thread
May 03, 2013, 06:38:41 PM
I thought this would be interesting: I didn't see a thread dedicated to the trips and travels people take throughout the year, as well as tips, pointers and recommendations for people with questions.

I will be going on a trip for 20 days through Europe and I'd like to hear about any experiences you all may have in regards to picking hostels and whatnot.

I have a friend coming with me but I don't know if I fully trust him doing all the research/booking...

Non-Hockey Chatter / NHL13
August 24, 2012, 12:27:00 PM
I'm surprised there isn't a thread on this already. Has anyone had a chance to try the demo?

I think they really upped the realism in this year's game (although there is no lockout option) :)

Non-Hockey Chatter / Hockey Arena (Online Game)
November 07, 2011, 05:40:53 PM
Well, I used to play this game way back when it was beta, but I got into it again I find it pretty fun.

http://www.hockeyarena.net

Basically it's a hockey simulation league. You manage your team against other managers in different tiered leagues. There's no trades but there's a big market system, lots of stats etc. You have something like 30 games in a season, then go into a playoff format. If you're one of the top 2 or 4 teams in your league, you advance to the next tiered league up.

Thought you guys might enjoy :)

Marlies & Prospect Talk / 2011/2012 Wildcard Prospect?
August 26, 2011, 01:31:43 PM
So who's the Wildcard prospect for the Leafs this year? Are there any you think make the team right out of camp?

I hear Frattin's name come up a lot, but I didn't see the game in which he played.

Non-Hockey Chatter / NHL12 Video Game Thread
August 23, 2011, 09:44:31 AM
I didn't see a thread about the game yet... hopefully this is the first.

According to the EA Website the NHL12 demo comes out today! I want to skip work to go play it.

What's your favourite addition this year?

There's only a month or so left until the pre-season and I'm pumped to watch the Leafs again. I've been doing some digging on youtube and there's a bunch of excellent videos that highlight the goals of some of our players in 2011.

Here's Kulemin's 30 goals.

One thing I noticed is how clockwork this guy is. Every goal is either a perfect wrist shot from inside the hash marks or a dirty goal from standing in front of the net, pouncing on rebounds and grinding it out. I think the sheer ugliness of his goals make him one of the more underrated goal scorers in the league.

Well, it's summer and I'm antsy for a dip somewhere, but I don't want to travel very far. I checked up on some of the water conditions and the beaches and turns out I live a 10 minute drive from Sunnyside Beach. It's not a blue flag beach but it's got some consistently low e-coli levels this year. I'm a bit apprehensive though since it's so close to the Humber, but I've read that the City's done a pretty good job making it swimmable again.

Any thoughts on the Toronto Beaches? Would you swim in them?
