Quote from: caveman on February 06, 2024, 12:48:43 PMIs a coaching change coming? ... Keefe has made some pointed comments about the team and some of the responsibility must fall on him..

Why would that mean anything? He's said similar statements before.

My impression is that he has reacted more strongly this year than in the past... and that may be a sign doesn't have the solutions to the problems..

on Kyper and Bourne yesterday i caught part of a conversation about the possibility that Tavares is injured.. and talk about him going on LTIR.. I think the source was Brad May.. but I didn't hear it all clearly.. has anyone heard similar talk?

Quote from: Joe on January 21, 2024, 10:38:46 AMI know we say this every samsonov start but if there was ever a game for him to stand on his head and take back control of the net this is it.

I don't see it happening, but one can hope.

Samsonov really took off when Murray faltered last year.. like it was up to him to carry the team.. with Woll out and Jones having some issues maybe Sammy will get the Eye of the Tiger...

Quote from: Highlander on January 19, 2024, 01:06:02 PMI don't want Keefe fired.  Seems we are one Woll away from a fix. Lets hope so anyway. Also need a stud defenseman.  Time to limit Gio and Brodie or give them more days off.

I don't see Woll as the solution. Tbh Jones has provided at least league average goaltending, which should be good enough for this team. Goaltending right now is the least of our problems considering he's 7th in league save percentage.
Jones has provided the goaltending we need to get by. The Leafs need at least one D man to move Brodie down.

agreed.. if they can pick up a top D man for Reilly... then Brodie should move down.. the SN panel opined the other night that Toronto has 1 number 2 Dman.. 2 number 4s.. and 3 number 7s...

I love it... calling out the media BS..instead of the washed out answers that team reps prepare for reporters.. Torts is the best...

Samsonov cleared waivers ... can they send him back down without waivers again?

I hope they keep Holmberg in the line up when Gregor is healthy... McMann could sit..

Quote from: Zee on January 08, 2024, 02:00:41 PMWilly played himself into this contract but the real question is how do the Leafs manage to have 4 guys in the top 10 in league salary where no other team has more than 1 guy?  Are other markets better at convincing players to take a bit less?  It's difficult to fill out a good roster when half the cap is tied up in 4 guys.

Canadian taxes must play into this to a degree...

I wonder how much more of a run Robertson gets... you got to think Steeves has earned a look...

What is Chucky Jr whining about? Great play

If you watch the replay, you'll see the goalie using his stick to take out his skate and not the puck.  It was a little greasy.

he committed to the poke check before Chucky got there... great move.. and Chucky has fire.. I would like that on the Leafs...

Quote from: Zee on December 13, 2023, 08:18:27 AMI really want to see what this team looks like with both Liljegren and Giordano back. I'm liking the depth d-men and how they've contributed but time to get some stable pairs back.  Encouraging signs lately.

I'm still intrigued with Timmins, Legesson & Benoit. Haven't seen enough of Lajoie.
None of them have been flawless. We've seen some warts. One of them might emerge as a 6th if they keep getting NHL games. They've seemed like credible depth dmen who have all done ok in their roles and circumstances. It has left me wondering if we need any depth dmen or if we add to the top 4 whether one will land an asset (a low pick) rather than be lost to waivers. I wonder if any of them would clear waivers. The advantage from within is they know the team's system.

The #7, #8, #9 & #10 dmen along with the #3 goalie helped beat a team last night tied for the best pts win% in the NHL. I feel like I have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming. Reminded me a little of the '02 playoffs when there were so many injuries and the AHLers filled in admirably - with a number of them eventually sticking.

In the next month, 13 games, 6 at home. Only 3 'tough' opponents (based on > .600 win%): Rangers, Islanders, Kings. So they've made it to a lull in the schedule where they can hopefully heal up.

it's a nice problem to have... all 3 have done well.. so do you chase a Lybushkin?.. getting Gio and Lilly back creates a crowd.. if there is a move to be made I hope it is significant.. as tough as that is to do.
