It's almost like GMs think the final ended last night and started making trades

Quote from: herman on June 15, 2024, 09:20:33 AMAnd if you want to know what the Marner camp is thinking, just watch for Darren Dreger.

Oh so Darren Ferris was on First Up.

He was angling for the head coaching gig and when he didn't get it, it made extra sense on both sides to move on

Yes Guy/No Guy situation
Hopefully this ends tonight, the Euro is on, time for soccer
So we don't have to see Corey Perry win but we have to see Sam Bennett win. Lose lose situation
What's Ottawa going to do now that they don't have a system to track their cap?
Quote from: cw on June 11, 2024, 07:20:19 AMBlow to the Public: Washington Capitals To Purchase CapFriendly Website, Site Reportedly to Go Dark Following Draft
QuoteAccording to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Capitals reached an agreement to purchase the site along with its infrastructure, tools and API and that other teams that had had contracts with CapFriendly to have access these tools were informed that those contracts were being terminated.

CapFriendly is extremely popular, with over 200,000 followers on Twitter/X alone, so not only is this a blow to rival teams. but also a massive blow to the public sphere.

It's also a blow to most everyone who works in and around hockey as CapFriendly was perhaps one of the most frequently visited sites and I can attest to this on a personal level.

I'm sure something else will pop up.
It will take it a while  to become as good.

Puckpedia has cap info, not as polished as capfriendly

I don't necessarily agree with this. If they can spend 11 million on 2 other players that make an impact the team could be better. Say a goalie and D? You can't just automatically assume the team is worse without Marner
Quote from: Dappleganger on June 07, 2024, 08:15:23 AMYetis... the plural of Yeti is Yetis. How did they get this wrong?

What's the plural of Leaf?
It's kind of ridiculous they waited an entire week to start this series, this isn't the SuperBowl one game winner take all, why the hell hasn't this series started already?  NHL doing NHL things again.
Quote from: princedpw on May 29, 2024, 10:24:35 PMI think Stamkos will cost Toronto 20% more to sign here than Tampa ... so if Tampa doesn't want him for a particular price, I'm not sure it will be a good deal for us.

Also, we just don't need him as much as we need a goaltender, defense, and a 2/3 center.

The only way I see Stamkos here is if he feels "disrespected" by Tampa's offer and decides to sign in Toronto to try and show Tampa up.  Same division, head to head etc.  Maybe they get him at a discounted rate because his motivation will be playing in his hometown, biggest market and stuffing it to Tampa.  Hey one can dream?

Quote from: Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate on May 22, 2024, 10:29:10 PMDigesting all this the past few days, FWIW I think Berube sounds just like what the doctor ordered.  Let's see if he can get Marner to attack the net more, root out the last vestiges of Nylander taking shifts off, convince Matthews that he has plenty of personal trophies and needs a team one, and convert Tavares into a faceoff-taking winger.

And fix whatever the hell is wrong with Woll and mold Hildeby into an instant backup.
Matthews is the only Leafs player that doesn't need to be convinced of anything.

Exactly. He literally was asked about how he felt about the individual awards at the locker cleanout, and said "that stuff's nice, but it's not fulfilling, it's not what I'm after." (3:45)

Matthews will continue to always be in the hunt for the Rocket, not because he only cares about individual stats, but because he's an amazing goal scorer and can't just "shut off" that part of his game. He's also responsible defensively so he's not cheating for offense.  So yeah, he'll fit right in with Berube's team commitment thing and still be awesome offensively.  He's just a damn unicorn.
Quote from: herman on May 22, 2024, 04:42:01 PMOh this will be fun(ny)

Devils are due for a huge bounce back season. If Hamilton is healthy and they get decent goaltending they'll be right up near the top of their division
