1 month today Zee!
Yup. I started to feel the itch.
The itch hasn't quite happened for me yet... Might take a few games in the season to start watching....
Oh I'll watch but I definitely won't get excited for anything in the regular season. Maybe if Auston does something crazy and gets 60 goals or something but that won't play out until later in the season.

I'm quitting on the Leafs if Kase goes in the top 6 over Kerfoot.....or at all, really.

Kase scored 20 goals in 17/18 and was on a 30 goal pace in 18/19 before injuries ended his season. He's obviously a bit of a wild card because of those injuries but I don't think it's nuts to give him a shot in the top-6.

Interesting. I just did some more reading; I didn't realize he was that skilled of a player. Sounds like his health is a real concern though. Some articles suggesting he should just retire.

I either read or heard today that he's feeling good and his concussion issues are behind him, although as we know concussions aren't really something you can safely say are in the past.  I wish him the best and hope he can contribute to this team.

Anyone else thing the rumors of the Leafs knocking on the Subban door have anything to do with the Leafs looking at Moving Rielly?  If his asking price is too much, would it make sense to deal him and acquire salary-retained Subban?

Eek, Subban's best days are behind him.  If Rielly goes I REALLY hope Sandin, Dermott and Lilejegren take huge steps this season to make up for it, but that's asking a lot.

Kerfoot and Engvall are Keefe's utility/safety options. They never get first crack at plum gigs (they have no possibility of fireworks, whereas the cheap UFAs are mystery boxes!), but because of their transition capabilities and not being absolutely braindead, he will turn to them as the known final options for any experiments that cycle through 2-3 UFAs where nothing sticks.

So if two of Bunting, Kase, Ritchie flame out of the top 6, Kerfoot is going up there. Until then, I think he's going to be used to overmatch other 4th lines to give Spezza some speedy playmaking to work with.

I'm quitting on the Leafs if Kase goes in the top 6 over Kerfoot.....or at all, really.

Really? That’s your breaking point?

Seems like a crazy hill to die on.  :D

Leafs trade Rask for crap - not an issue
Kessel run out of town - that's ok
17 years without a playoff series win - I can handle it
Kase over Kerfoot - THAT'S IT I QUIT ON THIS TEAM!

I voted early for the first time ever. Figure I'd beat the rush. There was literally nobody there

OK, I've sufficiently recovered from the playoff debacle against the Habs to get up off the matt and make a new proper 10 game chunk thread.  First 3 games will feel like they're still in the all-Canadian division but it opens up after that.

What's a team going to do if one of their high paid stars refuses the vaccine?  There has to be some dumb asses out there in the NHLPA...I know the Leafs already said everyone will be vaxxed, I want to see someone on another team refuse just to see the fall out.

Hockey culture is pretty obstinate. "Fall in line, for the good of the team", which we'd normally find bland, might actually be what pushes the NHL to be more highly vaccinated than most sports. The COVID policy is really quite a good template for other industries to follow, really pigeonholing the anti-vaxxers into extreme inconvenience.

In the dressing room, can you imagine a player saying he'd rather go through tests every 72 hours, no dining with comrades, no leaving the house at home or being completely segregated on the road (including all the maintenance stuff on body/equipment) and significantly inconveniencing the staff that assist you? I think he might last about 3 days before relenting, and at that point, there's another period of waiting for the second dose.

Tony DeAngelo step right up!

4-year deal for Denis Malgin with the Zurich Lions, taking him off the Leafs roster/pipeline

Thanks for ruining my Labor Day.  Another asset gone for zzzzzzilch.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( :o
It definitely is frustrating seeing Mason Marchment at least have some depth usefulness for Florida. Malgin didn't really do anything.

Marchment is a fringe NHLer at best.  There's no guarantee he sticks in the NHL, he's basically in a boat with hundreds of other players and the Leafs have a bunch of them already.
