I'm perfectly content with Matthews getting a game for that.
Just for fun though there was a game last year where Weber crosschecked Simmons in the head. He got a 5K fine. Joel Edmondson did it later in the game and got nothing.
Spin the wheel.

https://vocm.com/2021/10/27/growlers-kicked-out-of-mile-one/St. John's city council voted to suspend the Growlers from the arena. MLSE is looking to relocate the team to Toronto at least temporarily. After doing a bit more reading on this one it seems like this might be a bit of small town council puffing up feathers because the owner of the Growlers threatened to build his own arena.

“They pass Nick Ritchie. He’s 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds. Only three players scored more than this guy. Anaheim picked him up. [GM] Bob Murray picked him. He was the executive of the year. [Ritchie] is tough. He can score. He has beautiful hands.

He's coming. Amirov signs his 3-year ELC. https://www.nhl.com/mapleleafs/news/maple-leafs-sign-rodion-amirov/c-323672640Although is this Dubas indicating Amirov is going back to Russia next year or just platitudes? "We also look forward to continuing to work with Ufa with his development next season. Ufa has done an excellent job guiding Rodion's development as a player to date and we are excited to work very closely with them through the summer and into the future."

Game NotesTOR
• Nothing much to talk about. Mike Babcock will not be behind the Leafs bench after starting the year 9-10-4 and the team currently on a 6-game winless streak. Babcock finishes his Toronto tenure with a 173-133-45 regular season record (average 40-31-11 82-game record). • Sheldon Keefe, come on up. Sheldon continues his partnership with Kyle Dubas following his from Sault St. Marie, to the Marlies and now steps behind the bench as the 31st coach in Toronto Maple Leafs history. Keefe has been the head coach of the Marlies for the last 4+ seasons, compiling a record of 200-89-31. He most notably won the Calder Cup in 2017-2018. • Graduates of the Sheldon Keefe Marlies include: William Nylander, Andreas Johnsson, Kasperi Kapanen, Travis Dermott, Justin Holl, Zach Hyman, Frederik Gauthier, Nic Petan, Trevor Moore, Martin Marincin, Kasimir Kaskuo and Dmytro Timashov • Auston Matthews returns home. Babcock and Matthews didn't seem to see eye to eye so this will be a big game for him to show he can take it to the next level • Frederik Anderson is expected to start (2.76 GAA .912 SV%)

That’s a solid deal for Tampa and should take them out of the Karlsson trade.

2017 1st round pick 2018 2nd round pick Prospect Zach Sanford (2013 2nd round pick)
Some other stuff being put together but Washington really trying to win a Cup I guess. Hanzal went for more. That trade is still insane to me.

Ichiro got hit #4257 of his career when you combine his Japan totals. It's significant because it has him pass Pete Rose.
I love that Ichiro has had an unbelieavable career (and is having a great year so far) but this desperate attempt from the media/baseball to try and equate hits in the Japanese league to hits in Major league baseball is absurd.
Pete Rose is a jerk, he cheated on the game, but trying to claim that Ichiro is the all-time hits leader when he is sitting 1300 hits behind Pete Rose's MLB career is downright silly. If this metric was going to be used by Major League baseball and the press, we would be talking about home run champion Sadaharu Oh instead of Babe Ruth/Mickey Mantle/Barry Bonds.
