Bergeron would have looked pretty amazing in a Leafs jersey with Tavares on his wing.

I can't believe Dubas didn't sign him for that. Smh

Krejci too, right?

Too busy focusing on Greyhounds I guess.

Watched Thirteen Lives tonight. True story about those kids who got stuck in the cave in Thailand a few years back. Despite knowing the story it was still really gripping and dramatic. Having claustrophobic tendencies probably didn’t help!

It’s on Prime already too. And directed by Ron Howard.

Iirc he did say he wanted to be closer to home. Rings a bit hollow now, no?

I'm not sure what would be considered hollow about it. He wanted to play at home in front of his friends and family. He got to do that for a full season (and represent his country at the Olympics for the last time). He never said he wanted to stay there forever.

Coming off restricted COVID rules being at home with family can go a long way too.  Players already go without seeing their family for long stretches.  Having more restrictive isolation rules made that even worse.

It is also completely reasonable for someone to try something for a year and then to make a different decision a year later.

Especially since it was just coming out of the heart of the Covid lockdown and now the US is basically back to normal (my opinions and feelings about that notwithstanding). This and the Bergeron contract look like one last kick at the can Cup and was probably something they discussed at Tuukka Rask's wedding recently.

Subban is still unsigned. I find this kind of odd. Has his play really fallen that much?

There's probably still like a dozen UFAs who would all be pretty solid contributors at the right price (which should be easy to get them at now) that I'm genuinely surprised haven't signed yet.

Training camps are probably what 6 weeks away at this point?  You gotta think a flurry of signings will be coming with these guys.
