Anyone checking out the modern warfare 3 multiplayer stuff on call of duty xp?  So far it is looking like a rehash of mw2 to me.

Whatever. I'll still play the living crap out of it.

lol me too, one thing that is curious is it looks like if you want a kill to count now you have to collect the dogtags that people now drop when they die.  I think that could lead to getting a lot less kills or a lot less killstreaks anyways since a lot of times running to get those could mean you dieing.

From what I understand, that's a new multiplayer mode. So that won't be the default method of getting a kill.

Watched a bit of the live stream earlier.  There's now 3 types of killstreaks. One is called Support and once you hit 3 kills your killstreak doesn't reset....dumb imo. One of the others is called Specialist. if you get 8 kills you can use every perk in the game....also dumb imo.

There will also be dual scopes, the heartbeat sensor, a juggernaut recon team as well as bouncing betty landmines, controllable sentry guns etc.  Oh and sniper rifles are also secondary weapons again that you appear to be able to quickscope.

I was so pumped for this but I'm thinking it's gonna have to wait for a rental first.  MP is gonna be super lopsided.

That dogtag thing is a new game mode called Kill Confirm and not in regular multiplayer

Oh ok, regardless kill comfirm looks pretty sweet.

I like that they changed it from kill streaks to point streaks so that you can play more objectives because honestly I prefer playing really agressivly and getting more of a 1k/d to camping and having a good k/d but I don't feel rewarded enough for it.

I have so many mixed emotions on this. On one hand the graphics and Elite look pretty awesome but on the other hand dropshotting, quickscoping are still there and it's likely gonna be super air-support heavy which I hate.  I was gonna preorder but I think I'll rent first.

I want to try NHL 2012 as I haven't bought an NHL game since they took speedburst out.

I absolutely hate how there is no speedburst.  How the heck are players 1 speed throughout?  That is just so stupid to me.

Anyone know the reasoning why they took it out and if they ever considered putting it back in?

Well each player has different speed and acceleration ratings that will make them faster or slower than others. There also is a speed burst button (I think R2 on the ps3) that will cause the player to push the puck ahead and skate faster. You just can't hold it down anymore.

Yea, Xbox is the left analag control, I think you press it down 2 or 3 times to reach max speed burst, doesn't last that long though.

Ugh. My PS3 died today. Is transferring profile and save game data to a new console a simple task?

profile is stored online so i think youre fine there, data stored on hard drive, you can remove it and install it in your next machine, shouldnt be an issue IMO. HD can be found on left side of Ps3

Thanks. Sounds simple enough.

You know it's funny, I've gone through 5 Xbox 360s and now I'll be buying my 2nd PS3, but the Nintendo I got in 1989 still works.

Sorry, I have to ask.  Is your xbox/ps3 housed inside a cabinet or something?  Or is it in an open area with lots of airflow?

PS3 is on top of a tv stand in the open. The Xbox is on the shelf below it, but the other 4 that broke were all in open areas.

I know what you're thinking but I probably treat my consoles better than I would treat my children :p
