I'm not so sure that Nylander's ask for 10 million is all that outrageous.  Huberdeau is making 10.5.  Looking at the first 8 years of their careers, and the numbers are pretty similar.  Also Nylander has played in more playoff games, and have about the same points per game in the playoffs as Huberdeau. So if you are signing Nylander for 8 years, that seems to be around where he should slot in.

It's a flipping scrimmage and Dillingham doesn't even go to check on him.   The hit itself isn't a head hit but it's a team on team scrimmage, absolutely no reason for a hit like that on a potential teammate

I don't know why they signed Reaves but it doesn't really bother me because Reaves is a 4th liner so more ice for the top 6. Contrary to popular belief, he doesn't take a lot of penalties.He was 9th on Minny for penalties per time played. He also only had 31 minutes in 61 games played, 3 minors, 5 majors. He also drew more penalties then he took.

He's borderline unplayable now, and will be completely unplayable in years 2 and 3. It's just a absurdly pointless signing.

So who cares about those years then? They can ship him off to the Marlies. Cap hit is almost completely buriable.

They've still got Clifford if they wanted a face puncher, and I'd wager he's just as good at hockey. If they're at an impasse with Nylander because they're 1.3 million apart (which it sounds like they are), but sign Reaves, this is going to look even worse.

The 1.3M doesn't work that way. You still need a player on the roster so $750k minimum. This will not effect whether Willy signs or not because his contract doesn't start until next season and Reaves could be playing for the Marlies then.
