Quote from: Significantly Insignificant on July 08, 2023, 05:52:18 PMI'm not so sure that Nylander's ask for 10 million is all that outrageous.  Huberdeau is making 10.5.  Looking at the first 8 years of their careers, and the numbers are pretty similar.  Also Nylander has played in more playoff games, and have about the same points per game in the playoffs as Huberdeau. So if you are signing Nylander for 8 years, that seems to be around where he should slot in.
Tkachuk makes 9.5, Meier 8.8...no way in hell should he get more then Chucky.

Quote from: L K on July 08, 2023, 12:05:58 PMIt's a flipping scrimmage and Dillingham doesn't even go to check on him.   The hit itself isn't a head hit but it's a team on team scrimmage, absolutely no reason for a hit like that on a potential teammate
The guy is undrafted and trying to make an impression. Unless they were told not to hit, I have absolutely no issue with it. Wick said as much, clean hit.
Roni needs to get his head up.
These guys are fighting for future jobs and you can bet it's game on our there.

You have issue with Sundin laying out Cowan? Cowan didn't.

Reunited
Liked him and Dubas traded him at the right time. Too bad Joey didn't work out.

Alan Arkin was awesome...

Loved him in Little Miss Sunshine.
I recently watched the Kominskey Method where he played a supporting role just for the 1st season. Not much I didn't like about him as an actor.

Quote from: Dappleganger on July 02, 2023, 09:26:19 AMI think ROR took the most money being offered, simply as that.

100%
Nashville is actually one of the better American cities, nice place, good music and lots of $$$ for ROR to pay his Tims debts with.
Nashville is awesome.

Quote from: Guilt Trip on July 02, 2023, 08:08:08 PMI could care less whether he got vaxxed or not. I know lots of people that haven't and lots that have and lots that won't get it again. That's their choice.
Domi is an idiot at times like his dad but again, don't care. Hope they help this team win.
Hey there's 31 other teams to cheer for.

"Their choice" literally helped a pandemic kill many thousands more people.

I'll be cheering on the Leafs, just not this dumbass.
Sad thing...lots of people who were totally vaxxed still got COVID and died.

Quote from: Kaberle15 on July 01, 2023, 01:33:57 PMI Miss Dubas.

We could draft 2 more when he moved down grabbed the same player, and he wouldn't sign Reeves for years.

Next season could be a long one.

The Leafs tried moving down and didn't when they thought Cowan would be taken. It was Dubas' staff.
"We spent a lot of time looking at trying to acquire more picks. Coming in, that was probably our No. 1 priority, to see if we could manufacture some more picks. But it was difficult, and ultimately nothing happened," Treliving said.

Quote from: CarltonTheBear on July 01, 2023, 01:26:38 PMDuchene to Dallas, 1 year $3mil

*sigh*

It's looking like the team is going to regress here.  Tavares probably shouldn't be a Center at this point and we really are running out of options to push him off there let alone also add a 3C.

Wheeler went cheap to The Rangers too
Season isn't starting today or tomorrow.

Maybe someone should kick Treliving in the nuts.

Quote from: Dappleganger on July 01, 2023, 12:17:38 PMNot getting Ryan O'Reilly done at 4x$4.5m (even if it will not age well) is a big loss for the Leafs.

A loss for sure but at the end of the day. Leafs need to get faster.

Quote from: LittleHockeyFan on July 01, 2023, 11:27:24 AMthis new GM.... I hate him already. He lets Schenn and O'Reilly go, but signs Ryan f*@#&ing Reaves. Like we need another cementhead who will spend most of his time either on the bench or in the penaltybox.
what a useless move this was.....
Schenn is getting too much and ROR for 4 years isn't ideal but could have lived with it. I don't know why they signed Reaves but it doesn't really bother me because Reaves is a 4th liner so more ice for the top 6. Contrary to popular belief, he doesn't take a lot of penalties. He was 9th on Minny for penalties per time played. He also only had 31 minutes in 61 games played, 3 minors, 5 majors. He also drew more penalties then he took.

He's borderline unplayable now, and will be completely unplayable in years 2 and 3. It's just a absurdly pointless signing.
So who cares about those years then? They can ship him off to the Marlies. Cap hit is almost completely buriable.

Quote from: Bill33 on July 01, 2023, 11:31:56 AMThey've still got Clifford if they wanted a face puncher, and I'd wager he's just as good at hockey. If they're at an impasse with Nylander because they're 1.3 million apart (which it sounds like they are), but sign Reaves, this is going to look even worse.
The 1.3M doesn't work that way. You still need a player on the roster so $750k minimum. This will not effect whether Willy signs or not because his contract doesn't start until next season and Reaves could be playing for the Marlies then.
