Does it strike anybody else as odd that Sundin was/is blasted for not being able to carry the Leafs into the Stanley Cup finals (but made the play-offs about 10 times in a little over a decade), yet most people are wetting themselves over the idea of getting Nash, a guy that in a decade carried Columbus to all of one (1) play-off series... which he got 3 points as they lost in 4 straight?
BTW, I'm one of the above that does want Nash here.
not surprising...talkin Leafs fans opinions
Sundin > Nash

I don't know why everyone is so in favour of dumping Schenn. He's 22 years old, and is actually the only Leafs D that hits consistently. I don't think he's hit his ceiling yet and is still learning.
And to the Nash is "awesome" right now.....No he isn't and has never been. Sundin was awesome and Nash isn't on the same level as him even tho he's paid like he is. I'd personally be going after Carter. Word has it that Grabbo wants north of 5 mill and truth be told.....Carter is better then Grabbo so if your going to spend that coin, spend it on the better player....and younger too.

Well, Cox has appointed himself GM and declared Gus done in TO.  Pretty funny.
Cox is an idiot, but he might be right. Right now, do you see the Leafs signing Gus in the off season? I don't.

I think Allaire has been passed by, I really do.

Passed by how?
His teachings on position. He plays the percentages but everyone knows where to shoot on Allaire type goalies. There's no adjustment to their game. These guys drop as soon as a shot comes....heck even before it. There are so many times a goalie can just stand there and let it hit him but they've been taught to drop on everything. I think he's set in his ways and teaches "his" style instead of tweaking the way they play already. I found Gus to be more reactionary before Allaire and now he and Reims don't even move on some goals because they're in position "A".  He's turned them into shot blockers instead of trying to utilize all their strengths. For 2 big guys, Reims and Gus look small in there to me, and Reimer looks like Giggy this year, all bent over and stuff.
That's just the way I see it.....

Yes he's struggled but Gus has never played as good as Reims did, ever.

IIRC, that's been proven incorrect on here more than once.
Really? Like I said, Gus has never had a run like Reims did last year.....
37GP 20W 10L 5OT   2.60AVG .921% 3SO

Now show me any stretch of 30 plus games where Gus has had close to the same numbers.
Reimer is the guy they need to go with, and hope he regains his form.

lamajama......I think Allaire has been passed by, I really do.

I would go with Reimer. He's the guy that's signed and if he hadn't got hurt, who knows where we'd be. Coming off cuncussion like symptoms is very hard, especially for a goalie. Yes he's struggled but Gus has never played as good as Reims did, ever.
Anyone else starting to think Allaire is doing more damage then good for these guys? Makes me wonder........

^^^^Agree with this^^^^ No way I make a trade of Nash for Kessel...They need to sweeten the pot thanks. 7.8 isn't a friendly cap hit for what he does either.

Ward made the reference to Nieds...Crawford called him a gem...just sayin.....either way he looks like a keeper for sure.

It's too early to give up on Franson and I don't see BB doing that yet. Any player is tradeable for the right price tho.

It is just under the system the Leafs are using right now.  It doesn't matter who is in net, the result will be the same.
I don't agree with that at all. The Leafs "system" hasn't changed in the last year yet, Reimer has a fantastic record. It totally matters who's in net for these guys. Teams play differently depending who's in net.
Reimer's record in the NHL....
43gp   24w   10L   6OT   2.59GAA   .920   SV%\
This team would still probably be flying if Reimer didn't get hurt.

And yet Colby isn't the whipping boy. No offense, but this is a pretty ludicrous double standard.

Well, first of all, "whipping boy" seems pretty strong. Is there any chance people don't make fun of Connolly? Probably not. But I don't see those jokes as blaming him or "hating" him.

But secondly, the double standard is pretty easily explained. Armstrong, like Clark to some extent, plays a physical game and people chalk up their injuries to that physical style. Connolly is both soft as butter and brittle as, well, brittle.
Armstrong isn't exactly all that physical, and especially so if you want to compare him to Clark. He's not in the same ballpark as Clark was. Yes he is compared to Connolly and he will take the occasional run at someone but the fact is, he doesn't hit anymore then Lupul does, and I don't consider him all that physical.

Nobody should compare Armstrong to Clark but "Armstrong isn't exactly all that physical?" Please explain.
Please read above......Army for such a physical guy, doesn't hit anymore then Lupul does. Maybe Lupul is a bad example for you.....How bout this...Mike Brown is physical..He finishes every check and punishes people...Army is an agitator, a chirper.....Army isn't Mike Brown.

I think the difference between Army and Connolly is with Army, there wasn't a long list of injury concerns with him when we signed him.

agreed..unfortunately connolly already had a reputation for being made out of glass
Connolly...6 gp 4 points. Army 5 gp 0pts. Army has missed 43 of the last 98 games.
Connolly has missed 24 of the last 98 games.....now tell me why Connolly is going to be a whipping boy because of injuries before Army is again....agree with Bender on this one...ludicrous double standard
