Quote from: Zee on Today at 12:17:46 PMI don't get the thought process here of starting Sammy against the Coyotes and then Jones against the Knights.  Wouldn't you have saved your presumed #1 for the more difficult matchup?

Does it not play back to the discussion we've had before about coaches playing their top goalie in game one regardless of opponent as the chances to win are lower in the 2nd of a back 2 back regardless of the starter?

I can't remember which Leaf coach had that motto. Perhaps it was keefe?

Are we assuming that Giordano will drop to the #7 spot?

I have zero problem with Rielly feeling that it deserved retribution. It was an a$$hole thing to do and I'd expect a Leaf to receive a roughing up if they did something similar. The crosscheck to the head was definitely too much though.

I think the reporting is correct that not many teams could/would match what Vancouver's offer was.

Cue the 'face punching crew' to point out that the Leafs have none and that's a big reason they struggle in the playoffs.

Penalty killing would help jack up Marner's number.

Quote from: OldTimeHockey on January 25, 2024, 08:47:20 AMWhat the heck was Nylander doing on that play?

Looks like he was trying to John Tavares* it on the back half of his PP shift while the other guys changed, tried to spring Timmins who had no speed, and then tripped over a skate.

* 1v3 to open up space for teammates, but usually results in a blueline turnover

Looks to me like he tripped himself over the skate(splash) so that he could have a lay down and then a lean against the boards.

Is there a video or full statement from Reaves? My gut tells me that some of it was taken out of context much the way Marner was last week.
