I don't really care for this.  I get it based on Babcock's PK strategy of only using Zaitsev and Hainsey but I wasn't a huge Polak fan before his injury.  Adding a slow defenseman who is only likely to be slower really doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Yeah I mean hasnt the injury hampered his already limited mobility?

Injuries like that rarely increase your mobility.....

We could just solve this problem by doing what Howard Berger just suggested today: convert Nylander to a defenceman.

Any idea who the other two guys are?

They look like they could be hockey players.

I'm shocked, really. I thought he was using the Leafs as a bargaining manoeuver with San Jose.

I guess he really enjoyed playing for Mike Babcock. Wasn't there someone who said veterans wouldn't want to play for him?

Isn't he injured?

I haven't heard anything to that effect.

I read something on Twitter this morning that he was injured. Give that the weight it deserves.

There's a more important injury to panic about anyway....

I see Polak in the warmup. Who's sitting?

Marincin, apparently. Lower body injury.

There are better ones out there but here I go:

I'm willing to say he was adequate.

So, what defines good for you?

What defines 'humour through understatement' for you?

Liked his puck handling. It's been awhile since the Leafs had a goalie who didn't treat the puck like it was a live grenade.

The timing of this makes me laugh.

It's almost as if they waited for the media to launch its "There's trouble! There's trouble!" campaign and then: Oh look - here's the contract signed.

Datsyuk didn't retire - at least, not officially. His official status is suspended by the team for leaving for Russia.

I thought he had signed retirement papers. If not, that's the loophole.

It's a lot less worse than the joke of Chris Pronger's contract.

Yeah funny that Pronger hasn't "officially" retired but he still somehow qualified for the HHoF.

NHL Transactions / Please explain Datsyuk deal
June 29, 2016, 05:55:22 PM
Could someone please explain this to me.

When Luongo was in the process of being shopped around, it was mentioned (many times) that if he retired before the end of his contract, Vancouver would be on the hook for the cap hit.

They are now talking about the same thing as it applies to Shea Weber - if he retires before his contract is over, the Preds are on the hook cap-wise.

So how is it that Detroit was able to trade away their cap obligation on Datsyuk's contract? Would the other teams be able to trade the "cap hit" once it was triggered?

Rogie Vachon should have been in years ago. Aside from his play with Montreal and L.a. , he has a small role in Leaf lore.
