Messages - Guilt Trip

Quote from: hobarth on Yesterday at 03:23:25 PMFlorida has been burning up the league lately, seemingly scoring at will, they play TO and TO only allows 2 goals, that was TO without Rielly, coincidence?
Rielly has played well lately but whatever makes you feel good.

Quote from: L K on March 23, 2023, 08:43:09 PMI am liking the potential for a goaltending controversy heading into the postseason.  Keep playing like this Matt Murray

Yeah, I'll give Ilya the last one, he's probably a nervous wreck waiting for Lil Ilya or Ilyetta, as the case may be.
The little guy was born today.

Murray was excellent again. Not much to criticize about his game. He actually made a great save on the 1st goal lol.
Hope he can keep it going.

Quote from: Guilt Trip on March 23, 2023, 03:14:48 PMThey can keep all 3 if need be. With Muzz on LTIR the Leafs will have 13.9M in space with a 16 man roster(Robertson/McMann/Woll on the roster). They will have options but let's see how this thing plays out this year before getting into who's coming back and all that. Carrying Woll only adds 767K.

Sure. Possible but very, very unlikely. Carrying 3 goalies is usually a nightmare situation for teams (could say the same about carrying 9 defencemen and yet here we are though I guess).
Def not ideal but Carolina has carried 3 all year. Chances are Murray will be going to be Robidas Island at some point next season.

Quote from: azzurri63 on March 23, 2023, 12:56:53 PMLilly sitting again. Holl in the lineup. Hope we get clobbered again. Had enough of Keefe and his favortism.

Why would a fan of the team root for them to lose (other than an out and out tank year with a generational player like Bedard ready to go)?
Because their hatred for a player and seeing them do bad outweighs the team doing well. It makes zero sense but look who wrote it. I don't like certain players in certain positions but I hope they all have great games that lead to team success.

And in answer to why Holl is on over Liljegren....because he's been better then him lately.

My question is why hasn't everyone muted him already? I'd highly prefer to ignore him without the quotes bringing his asinine posts up over and over.
I have no clue. Suckers for punishment maybe? I'm so done with the doom and gloomers.

Quote from: L K on March 23, 2023, 11:18:00 AMI think my bigger fear with Woll is going to be his health.  He just had some many issues that I'd be leery of him staying healthy but he seems like more of a positionally sound goaltender.

Sparks was all over the net.  Honestly not all that different from watching Mrazek in net last year.

Murray's inability to stay healthy makes me lean more towards keeping Samsonov and trying to move Murray but these last 12 games/the playoffs will probably be the best way to make an assessment of that.  What Samsonov would want in an extension might also play a role.  If we can get Samsonov and Woll in as a tandem for less than Murray's 4.6M that would go a long way to helping our forward depth with a lot of our bottom 6 needing to be rebuilt.

Yeah, a Murray/Woll tandem next season is just a disaster waiting to happen with their injury history. Even if Murray plays this next stretch of games well I don't think they can keep him if the plan is for Woll to stay up next season.
They can keep all 3 if need be. With Muzz on LTIR the Leafs will have 13.9M in space with a 16 man roster(Robertson/McMann/Woll on the roster). They will have options but let's see how this thing plays out this year before getting into who's coming back and all that. Carrying Woll only adds 767K.

Quote from: herman on March 23, 2023, 07:36:01 AMPretty dope they wear alt jerseys for the game itself too.
They do that in some European Leagues as well. And the refs also wear pride jerseys.

Quote from: CarltonTheBear on March 23, 2023, 09:55:56 AMI'm still wary of getting Spark'd again, but a capable back-up making only $766k would be huge for our cap situation the next couple of seasons.
I don't know if Woll can become a #1, I think he can, but I think he's different then Sparks who was more or less a scrambler.
I watched him live again last night and his game has evolved so much from previous years. His angles are great, his speed is surprising and he's not a busy goalie until scramble mode happens when there needs to be.
The only goal scored on him last night was off a 2nd rebound. He doesn't seem to bite on any moves on breakaways, he had a few, he waits for the player to tip his hand. You can tell he reads the puck well off a players stick as well. Kind of reminds me of a big Belfour. Technically very strong but also has great reaction speed. Like I said, he's very quick for a big guy.
Will it turn out? I hope and think it will. I think he's coming into his own right now. 28/29 last night in a SO loss.... 16-2-1, 2.20GAA, 930 SV% and he hasn't lost a game in regulation where the Marlies have scored a goal....fingers crossed lol.

Quote from: CarltonTheBear on March 22, 2023, 08:54:02 AMDozen games left. Probably time to start trying to key in on your defence pairings. I was a little surprised to see Gustafsson get the nod last night over Schenn, especially since a) Schenn has played less games with the team, b) Guf seems like the most unlikely of the potential options to play game 1 of the playoffs, and c) the Islanders are kinda the team you'd expect the Leafs would have specifically wanted Schenn to play against.
Playing Gus over Schenn allowed them to play all the D pretty close to the same minutes??? Don't see Schenn getting near 20 mins a game so they got to keep the pairs together for the most part. I think Keefe starts locking things down really soon too. Gotta get Willy and JT going.

Quote from: Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate on March 21, 2023, 08:47:56 PMI take it this has been the proverbial defecation of the bed by Samsonov.  I've only seen the goals against this period.
He's not giving ye pick away but he's not good enough tonight. Even that last one he looked weak on.
Game 1 starter still up for grabs. Let's see what Murray does next game.
If he is not 100% then why wasn't Woll given the game
Insane
It's probably a sore elbow or something simple. If it was anything of a serious nature he wouldn't be playing and Woll wouldn't have been sent down to the Marlies. He just wasn't good enough tonoght. Sammy for whatever reason isn't good away from Scotiabank.

Seeing his postgame I think his head wasn't 100% in the game.  He's thinking about his upcoming baby.  Give Murray the next two starts and call up Woll.  Let Ilya be with his wife
He's going home and Murray and Will will be the guys in the rest of the trip...his head def wasn't into this game.

Quote from: dekedastardly on March 21, 2023, 09:21:26 PMIt was over at 3-1, Sorokin was good. What an embarrassing outcome.
It was a game until the 4th goal.
