Messages - Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate

All the trade scenarios run through by MLHS have the Leafs losing the trade.  Like, not even close.  It's literally insane.

However, given his salary and upcoming contract negotiation, I don't think we'll see anyone who finished even inside the top 30 of league scoring this past season traded straight up for Marner this summer.

Read the tea leaves any way you like, and push your agenda however you wish, but the Leafs are going to lose a Marner trade.
That was a superb video.

Eat it, Oilers.

I was waiting for this post.  Never change, Nik. ❤️😆

Me too.

My point, again, is that I don't think Rielly is a good candidate but I don't think it's a categorically stupid idea either.  If Marner can play a little D, then I don't think it's impossible *on the face of things* that someone as skilled as Rielly to switch to wing.

Anyway, this is just idle offseason talk, no harm in that.

Everybody laughs at these ideas (and Kaberle really would have been the ideal guinea pig), but when you've bombed out 8 years in a row in the playoffs I don't think anything should be ruled out of tabletop scenario planning.

That said, Rielly doesn't strike me as a guy who could do that.
MLHS has some decent recaps of Matthews & Nylander's seasons.  No revelations: Both are gamebreakers, Matthews needs to bring it in the playoffs, that's all he has left to prove, and Nylander still cheats for offense.

If you are saying Broissant follows Infowars then he's 100x worse than Bertuzzi, who was merely reprehensible.  Following Alex Jones is disqualifying, period.
Quote from: herman on June 09, 2024, 11:08:02 AMDeclarations aren't really persuasive arguments. We should also note that we've really only seen Marner in a playstyle that was literally designed to be give Marner the puck. However good Marner plays, I think it's self-evident it does not match up with his expected asking price and barely even matches his current cap hit.

cw had the stats but I believe Marner has better numbers overall than Nylander, yes?  Including playoffs.  Maybe I'm wrong about that but if not he deserves to make more than Nylander.

In any event, no, it is not self-evident.  That declaration isn't persuasive.
Losing Marner will not make us a better team.  I hope he can get past all this BS and re-sign.
God, those names are awful.
Thank you, cw.  Totally agree.

But nonetheless we can look forward to months of 10-cent pop psychologizing, hot-mic hot-takes, endless nattering about Marner's "camp" (whatever that means), advance-stat contrarianism, and a whole bunch of stupid ideas to give away / drive away an elite player.

Could not possibly care less.  Well, maybe I could.
Any reactions to MLHS's "who stays and who goes" articles?

Quote from: bustaheims on May 29, 2024, 06:27:59 AMThe last 3 games against Boston, the Leafs looked like they might be closer to being a contender than they looked most of the year.  Not quite there, but not super far off. Other than that, they definitely looked more like also-rans than anything rise.

A version of the Leafs as committed to team defence as they were from games 5-7 and where the special teams contributed would be an interesting team to watch.

And if they had a healthy Woll in net for G7...
