Quote from: Arn on May 17, 2024, 02:39:13 PMSo if it is Berube, can we get O'Reilly back in the Marner/Sarros trade?

In hindsight (or without it really), not being able to get ROR extended hurt the team very badly. Especially with how well he played for the Preds this season.

His style suggests he might break down quickly, so there's a risk to it. But he'd have been ideal.

Still might...

No, because we're getting Roman Josi thrown in instead.

Marner, Liljegren for O'Reilly, Saros and Josi 👍🏼

Quote from: Frank E on May 15, 2024, 05:55:12 PMI like the idea of getting some cheap bluey chip prospects that are already contributing, with a solid goalie, and looking at 24-25 as a reset of sorts?

And if it all goes well, load up a little at the deadline, and if not, offload.

And another thing...I'm not sold with Rielly as your horse on the blueline.

And another thing...if Bert and Domi want to come back, are we good with that?

Domi yes at the right price.

Bert maybe but only at a lesser price than I think he'd want or could get elsewhere.

Yeah, I'm very much on board keeping Tavares to the end of his career if he so wishes.

As you say it's just a case of utilising him properly as the years progress.

I do think at some point he'll hand the C over to Matthews as well, though.

Hiring him would genuinely be the end of my investment in the Leafs.

Quote from: Highlander on May 13, 2024, 12:17:44 PMLooks like Todd McLellan is flying to T.O. If they hire him I am will be pissed. Lets get either Quenville or Gallant and start from there.  Not a Berube fan at all.

Quenville is not eligible to coach in the NHL. Scratch him off every list.

And hopefully never will be.

Sack the staff and trade the entire roster.

Thoughts on Bylsma?

So what you're saying is that Tortorella is available then?

Shame for Keefe, I enjoyed his regular season teams.

I'd say he could do a great job in somewhere like Seattle or San Jose .

Or what about Ottawa?

Yeah of the 2 I'd hang on to Domi and let Bert find somewhere else.

I don't dislike Bert, but he could probably get himself more term and/or $$$ somewhere else

Quote from: Arn on May 08, 2024, 02:55:04 PMWith the benefit of a few days and letting the latest loss sink in, I think we performed about where the team was. It was never as good as some of the last few years in terms of make up, and was barely improved at the deadline.

What I'd like to see happen is a new coach.

A slight change in the make up of D to make it more mobile and balanced around the big units.

Trade Reaves and Kampf.

Continue to spread Matthews, Marner, Tavares and Nylander across 3 or even 4 lines, possibly with Tavares on the wing.

Woll as one goalie, Murray given the chance to be the "3rd goalie" on a minimum contract and find someone to platoon with Woll.
Jarnkrok should be at the top of the list of guys to move. Reaves can be buried in the minors.

Yes him too actually. I think you could get something back, even if it's a late round draft pick, for Reaves but if not no problem burying him.
