People come on here to vent. I find the constantly positive people to be just as annoying.

The team looked amazing in the 1st. Was men vs. boys. Then they took their foot off the gas and it was a 50/50 game. Tavares and Matthews look pretty bad. But Tavares is oldish. Matthews needs to do something about his conditioning. He's just lumbering around out there. Has he out on a lot of weight or something? Looks slow and out of shape.

No kidding, that was incredible.

Matthews was done.  If The Blues keep that in, the extra point is theirs.

Matthews har so many chances to change but refused to come off. Not sure what his deal is in OT but he always stays out way too long.

That play was 2 on 2 and Sandin kept telling Matthews to take the other guy. But Matthews for some reason stayed in the middle. If he was closer to where he should have been he has a chance of tying the Bolts stick up. Instead he just has a lazy stick in the lane. Matthews has been very poor the last while. I'm not loving his work ethic.

I love Gio. See him come in there and take the one guy who was harassing Bunting. He had those psycho eyes and was just staring the guy down.

Quote from: BrownRolo on November 11, 2022, 09:55:03 PMThe first two periods I thought they played well and it was a good game. Then Kallgren let in that stinker, the Pens played the trap and the Leafs are just unable to create any offense when a team goes into their shell.

It's pathetic that we are trying so hard to find a linemate for Marner and Matthews. They are what? In the top 5 for highest paid in the league? You should be able to stick any plug with them and they should light it up. Clearly Dubas' model does not work in hockey. This isn't the NBA. You can't tie up so much capspace in players that are too easily neutralised.

Marner needs to go. He's the odd one out and he doesn't provide enough for his hit.

He's not going anywhere.  And shouldn't.  "Let's dump the guy who scored 97 last year" is not a take with any prospects for longevity.

So you think they build of this team is fine? They have to make some kind of big change.

And this isn't about them losing. It's about how they lose. Like I said earlier that 3rd period was an exact copy of them in the playoffs. They need a goal. They need some sustained pressure. The 4th line did a hell of a lot more than Matthews/Marner.

Pathetic. This team is broken. I don't care what the apologists say.

This reminds me of the playoffs when the Leafs need a goal and are unable to do anything.

Marner and Matthews is not working. Has Keefe been told to not break that line up? Please, please, please change it.

Quote from: BrownRolo on November 11, 2022, 08:38:21 PMI really think the Leafs need to move on from Marner. He has some nifty passes but he also just makes too many brain-dead plays. He also always loses puck battles. He is sooo afraid of contact. Move him for a Top 6 forward and a top 4 dman.

I value the creativity, but it needs to be deployed at the right time and place.

I feel like he tries these "creative" plays and 80% of the time they fail but occasionally it works and it's a beautiful play.

It seems like he had time and space but intead passes it 3 feet to Matthews. Just a pointless play.

Robertson doesn't do much does he?

Pretty minor point, but after a quiet regular season since being acquired I thought Blackwell really stepped up in the playoffs in very limited minutes. I wish he got on the ice a little more as opposed to some of the other middle-6 guys that maybe weren't exactly playing as good as we've seen them in the past (Engvall/Mikheyev). I hope he's able to come back on a cheap deal next season because if spots open up higher in the line-up I think he'll be a good option.
Engvall was pretty disappointing. Mickey had opportunities but was disappointing as well.

One team got a goal called back.  The other team got gifted a 5 on 3 when trailing.

These two right here, changed the series.

Its disappointing, it was a great shot by Tavares, but I heard the whistle clearly on TV, so when it went in I knew it would not count right away. Im sure it was loud at ice level. Sucks but it was the right call.

We had no idea until saw the penalty box open.  The crowd was going nuts even before the goal

Why is a pick an automatic penalty? It isn't in basketball. Holl established body position and didn't reach out and grab him or anything. I guess it's interfering with a guys movement but it should be legal. All you're doing is making him go the long way around.

I feel like Holl needed to sell it more. If he made it look more like an accident he could've got away with it.
