A few months ago, in December, Gord Downie was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.

Since then, obviously, he's endured a lot of difficult times, and he has been fighting hard. In privacy along with his family, and through all of this, we've been standing by him.

So after 30-some years together as The Tragically Hip, thousands of shows, and hundreds of tours...

We've decided to do another one.

This feels like the right thing to do now, for Gord, and for all of us.

What we in The Hip receive, each time we play together, is a connection; with each other; with music and it's magic; and during the shows, a special connection with all of you, our incredible fans.

So, we're going to dig deep, and try to make this our best tour yet.

As the Toronto Maple Leaf Hockey Club prepares to celebrate its Centennial anniversary next season, it was announced today that three of the greatest players in club history will be inducted into the team's Legends Row monument. Dave Keon, Turk Broda and Tim Horton will be honoured with statues to be unveiled in October. The three Hockey Hall of Fame members will join previous inductees Ted Kennedy, Darryl Sittler, Johnny Bower, Borje Salming, George Armstrong, Syl Apps and Mats Sundin on Legends Row.

Keon and representatives from the Horton and Broda families will be honoured in a pre-game ceremony Saturday night as the latest Legends Row inductees are introduced to fans when the Maple Leafs play the Montreal Canadiens at Air Canada Centre.

Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment have hired Air Canada executive Michael Friisdahl as the sports holding company's new president, a source told TSN.

Friisdahl replaces Tim Leiweke and his hiring will be announced by MLSE later this afternoon.

Friisdahl joins MLSE from Air Canada, where since 2012 he was president and chief executive of the airline's leisure group, which runs Air Canada Vacations, a tour operator business.

Friisdahl's previous positions included CEO of Thomas Cook North America and CEO of the tour operator Holiday Network.

Friisdahl's hiring brings Leiweke's stewardship of MLSE to a close, as the story of who will replace Leiweke has percolated in sports business circles for months.
