Clomiphene/Clomid is used to induce ovulation in women.

For men we use it to boost testosterone (a secondary approach to testosterone deficiency) and in reproductive health can be used to boost sperm counts.

So it's a legitimate medication to use in reproductive health if sperm counts are low but it's also a medication that would be clear that you were taking it.  Rejun 50 just refers to a drug with 50mg of Clomid.  Not knowing this is akin to saying I didn't know there was acetaminophen in Tylenol.

What a disaster of a season.

Quote from: Oracle on June 22, 2024, 02:26:49 PMI don't feel bad for Maurice yet, the Panthers have a history of coming back from behind as well. If the Oilers score a quick 2 goals in the first they better be very careful lol.

I don't feel bad for him period.  One of the things about Maurice is he's not a coach who does well with adjustments.  That's on him for not changing things up.  The Oilers figured out a way to stop the Panthers forecheck and it's noticeable how much slower they look without a quick transition game.

Game 7 of the SCF.  The thing that every hockey kid dreams of.

5 minutes away from a Game 7.

Not sure about that overturned goal.  There has to be a better camera angle that showed that as clearly offside.

Florida looks shook at this point.  Edmonton has all of the momentum.

The Edmonton crowd is wild.  That the Leafs and Oilers were remotely compared to each other.  We mocked Ken Holland.  The Leafs are 1 year behind the McDavid rebuild and we are getting further away from this type of run.

George Springer is 12th in batting average on the Blue Jays this year.  He's 10th in on base percentage.  He's 13th in slugging percentage.  He's 11th in OBP.  He's 11th in OPS+.

He's 2nd in plate appearances.  It's absurd.

It's almost like the draft is next weekend...

I get that, but I've heard reporters say the NHL tries to discourage teams from making deals during the finals so as not to "distract from the finals".  But I agree with other comments on here, stupid of the NHL to drag this series out.  Right from the first game that they delayed for almost a week was an idiotic decision.

That's the problem. If this goes to a Game 7 the Finals end on June 24. The NHL playoffs started on April 20.  The draft starts on June 28 and ends on June 29th.  Free agency starts July 1st.

Having a week between the end of the playoffs and the start of the free agency period is stupid.  Making teams wait to make moves under a tight schedule like that is terrible scheduling.

Having 5 weeks between each Game to drag the Finals through the end of June was certainly a bizarre choice

Quote from: Bullfrog on June 19, 2024, 09:44:59 AMI think this narrative of "it's a disaster if we can't trade X player" should stop. It's not a disaster. He played, he was paid. That should be the expectation. Life will move on.

Having him on the roster increases the chance of making and having success in the playoffs.

Over no one? Absolutely. Over the potential assets in return as part of a trade/players brought in using the free cap space? That's more complicated and less clear cut.

The Leafs COULD have better depth moving on from Marner, but I'm going to counter that if the return is simply his cap space.  Losing Marner at 10.9 buys you two Tyler Bertuzzi's at 5.5M.   If you replace Marner with a second Bertuzzi (not playing with Matthews) I'm going to counter that the Leafs probably still lose to Boston.  Bertuzzi wasn't bad by any means but I really didn't see a guy who was giving Boston fits...he just kept getting into shoving matches with Marchand all series.

The value in moving on from Marner would be in trading him this year...taking a talent step backwards because you can't replace a 90+ point player in free agency very often but the assets you get in a trade PLUS the 11M in cap space makes the long term process better.  If we are just walking Marner to free agency we lose an elite player for nothing and free agency purchase pricing devalues that 11M hole in the cap.

So New Jersey has a goalie.  Decent chance they finish higher than the Leafs in the standings next year and the articles and social media noise because of that is going to be annoying.

While I share all the same frustrations about our guys, I'm not sure anyone in any sport could do what McDavid is doing right now.

It's absolutely true.  McDavid is by far the best player in the world.  But it was also Draisaitl doing it on one leg last year. We have also seen MacKinnon go off from big playoffs.

It's just generally frustrating that we have four players making within 1.5M of McDavid when none of them (including Matthews) have shown that extra gear to take over playoff games.  Maybe we kind of saw that in Game 2 against Boston where he took over the game but watching Edmonton try and claw back in a Stanley Cup Finals...they were our Western Conference "yeah they haven't done anything either" team.  The reality is Edmonton has won multiple playoff rounds beyond this run and we are stuck running back the same roster year over year with the same inefficient results.

Is it an improvement for the Senators to be using 2011 tech?

Holy hell I can't wait until Gary (and Colin Campbell and all the other 30+ upper executives that have stagnated the game) gets the hell out of the NHL.  The NHL is a clown show at recognizing how to market their product.

Between sports betting and just analytic fan interest the NHL just seems clueless at recognizing a good thing.
