Quote from: Guilt Trip on Yesterday at 09:27:24 PMWilly had 2 chances...not good by him. He's not the only one either.
Matthews was pretty soft on that goal to.

Quote from: herman on Yesterday at 09:18:21 PMMatthews absolutely fired that no look slapper with Nylander lying head facing the shot in the slot
Quote from: L K on Yesterday at 09:02:42 PMGood job Keefe. Keep playing Reaves after we score

I mean he slashed him and got the skate but I have no idea why he doesn't have more wrath of the refs against him. When you breath on him he goes flying

There's something wrong and I don't think I can point to one thing.
To me it feels like there wasn't a coherent vision of what the team was meant to be, rather they just signed players and hoped to shove them into a role. It was just a bit rushed. For probably obvious reasons.
Whether you liked or agreed with him, at least you could see a strategy behind the moves made the last few years or see why certain players had been picked up.
As much as the FA signings were Brad's doing, the general point the team is at is still mostly Dubas. We can debate Reaves/Klingberg all we want and we might have a mulligan on Klingberg anyhow, but this is what happens when you're capped out every year and the players you had for cheap move on for bigger contracts a la Hyman/Bunting etc. They tried on Dumba, Gudas, ROR and swung out, but still got the big fish in Bertuzzi who hasn't looked great and neither has Matthews or Marner for large chunks of the year. If the top two lines are consistent we aren't having this conversation.
Quote from: dekedastardly on December 03, 2023, 10:07:37 AMReeves could have tried to start something with Frederic. I for one am pretty disappointed that there was basically zero response. Opposition still gets free passes to our net far too often. I think not landing Zadorov is a big missed opportunity

There's no excuse for that. It's really disappointing seeing that from him because he's been so good this year in all zones.Quote from: Guilt Trip on December 02, 2023, 10:13:54 PMQuote from: L K on December 02, 2023, 10:06:53 PMHe hasn't been good since coming back from Sweden. Tonight's OT was a special kind of horrible though. His effort and decision making was off the charts bad..so bad that Keefe put Gregor out with 34 for a shift in OTQuote from: Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate on December 02, 2023, 09:57:53 PMI'll look at the positives: Matthews looked terrific, Domi got the monkey off his back.
Willy has fallen back to earth.
Willy's kind of stunk the last few games. It's hard to play like he did for 82 straight games but effort level has been pretty miserable for a few games.
He's been fabulous in OT til now. I'll cut him some slack but he does have tendencies that need to be watched and managed.
Quote from: L K on December 02, 2023, 09:57:53 PMI'm disappointed that both Tavares and Nylander didn't get back into the play after that happened but I'm mostly disappointed with Nylander.
