Quote from: Guilt Trip on Yesterday at 09:27:24 PMWilly had 2 chances...not good by him. He's not the only one either.

Matthews was pretty soft on that goal to.

Not sure what rule is worse over the glass or 4 minutes for drawing blood. Dumbest sh*t they came up with.

Quote from: herman on Yesterday at 09:18:21 PMMatthews absolutely fired that no look slapper with Nylander lying head facing the shot in the slot

Ya I was thinking the same thing could have been ugly. Willy was looking that way so sure he seen it coming but still.

Doesn't look good can't even put any weight on his leg.

Only getting better. Man what is it with the luck with this team.

Quote from: L K on Yesterday at 09:02:42 PMGood job Keefe.  Keep playing Reaves after we score

Ya never know what he's thinking. I was going to say another 2 goal lead. Seen lately how those have held up. Treliving has to make a move and soon even with Gio and Lilly back this defence sucks and it can't be a minor deal.

Glad I took Matthew in my Fanduel. Another lacklustre night. Don't get how you can't manage even a shot on goal. See he hit the crossbar by a previous comment but man really mind boggling how invisible he is some nights.

Quote from: herman on Yesterday at 08:35:24 PMClassic Stutzle dive

I mean he slashed him and got the skate but I have no idea why he doesn't have more wrath of the refs against him.  When you breath on him he goes flying

Soccer was probably his first love and that would explain it.

Busy just got home but judging by the comments and boxscore looks like getting outplayed again. Woll has been the difference?

Another great start by the looks of it.

There's something wrong and I don't think I can point to one thing.

To me it feels like there wasn't a coherent vision of what the team was meant to be, rather they just signed players and hoped to shove them into a role. It was just a bit rushed. For probably obvious reasons.

Whether you liked or agreed with him, at least you could see a strategy behind the moves made the last few years or see why certain players had been picked up.

As much as the FA signings were Brad's doing, the general point the team is at is still mostly Dubas. We can debate Reaves/Klingberg all we want and we might have a mulligan on Klingberg anyhow, but this is what happens when you're capped out every year and the players you had for cheap move on for bigger contracts a la Hyman/Bunting etc. They tried on Dumba, Gudas, ROR and swung out, but still got the big fish in Bertuzzi who hasn't looked great and neither has Matthews or Marner for large chunks of the year. If the top two lines are consistent we aren't having this conversation.

Ya I agree with you and have been saying the same thing for a long time. What do we expect when like you say you are capped out. Dubas caved in to these guys when they hadn't won anything as a team and regular season stats are great but when you disappear when it matters most I'm sorry you don't deserve a raise when quite frankly you're paid handsomely in regards to others in the league that you're equivalent to. Love watching our core but for me too inconsistent, too many nights off and I don't expect 3 points a night from them but at least don't mail it in. We have seen that far too often. Always go back to Game 3 against the Panthers when our backs were against the wall and 16 & 34 were MIA. I hope Treliving doesn't give up even more of our prospect pool or drafts because Dubas did a fine job of that and to be honest our farm system and prospects isn't that good. Question is what do you do? Without mortgaging the future someone has to go.I wouldn't be against some sort of retool because as most of you know I think this core is flawed.

Quote from: dekedastardly on December 03, 2023, 10:07:37 AMReeves could have tried to start something with Frederic. I for one am pretty disappointed that there was basically zero response. Opposition still gets free passes to our net far too often. I think not landing Zadorov is a big missed opportunity

Team is all talk. I for one thought someone would paste him every opportunity. I've said this for years it's almost like there is an unwritten rule as far as hitting the POS.

Also I missed chunks of the game did Marchand even get hit? Curious if anyone pasted him.

Quote from: Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate on December 02, 2023, 09:57:53 PMI'll look at the positives: Matthews looked terrific, Domi got the monkey off his back.

Willy has fallen back to earth.

Willy's kind of stunk the last few games.  It's hard to play like he did for 82 straight games but effort level has been pretty miserable for a few games.
He hasn't been good since coming back from Sweden. Tonight's OT was a special kind of horrible though. His effort and decision making was off the charts bad..so bad that Keefe put Gregor out with 34 for a shift in OT

He's been fabulous in OT til now.  I'll cut him some slack but he does have tendencies that need to be watched and managed.
There's no slack when you put out an effort like that.. his guy scored the winner at the net while he barely crossed the blue line from centre ice, after giving the puck away for the 3rd time in OT. There's no excuse for that. It's really disappointing seeing that from him because he's been so good this year in all zones.

That's where the issue lies with this team no accountability. I know the game is over but Keefe should be blasting these guys when they pull s$$t like that. I don't care who you are. Plain and simple it's unacceptable.

Quote from: L K on December 02, 2023, 09:57:53 PMI'm disappointed that both Tavares and Nylander didn't get back into the play after that happened but I'm mostly disappointed with Nylander.

Really. Watching the replay of Tavares skating back it was almost like he thought it was over. Get on your high horse and get back. Like I said it was from a few of them lazy without the puck. Matthews was no better back checking in the OT.
