5. The Longest Winter Road in the World

Constructed each January on ice and snow, the ?Wapusk Trail? road has a length of 467 miles and links Gillam, Manitoba with Peawanuk, Ontario, Canada. ?Wapusk Trail? is the longest seasonal winter road in the world. It even got a Guinness World Records certificate. This type of ?temporary highways? have a crucial role in enabling goods to be delivered to communities without permanent road access. Warm weather forces the closure of the winter road staring with March, early April. Air transportation is an alternative, but it?s quite expensive.

where the hell is Peawanuk, Ontario?

Probably a North Western Ontario reserve. My guess would be quite a ways north of Sioux Lookout Ontario, which is just a ways north of Dryden I believe.

After a bit of googling, here it is:

Fact that will interest you: Its close to Polar Bear Provincial Park

it's on the southern edge of Polar Bear Provincial Park which abuts Hudson bay, right on the Winisk River. (thank you google maps)....so, hell and gone way up north.

I missed the useless thread. I used to post here all the time. Then the dancing banana got banned.

STATELINE, Nev. -- Former NHL all-star Joe Sakic picked a good spot for his first career hole-in-one -- a US$1 million two-hopper into the cup on the waterfront par-3 17th at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship at Lake Tahoe on Sunday.

"That's a shot you never imagine hitting," said Sakic, who won two Stanley Cups and an MVP trophy with the Colorado Avalanche. "I've never even been close before."

For the last three years, any player hitting an ace on the signature hole at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course earned a $1 million bonus from tourney sponsor American Century, with the Kansas City-based investment company stipulating that half of the prize go to its primary charity benefactor.

So Sakic will split the $1 million with Lance Armstrong's Livestrong Foundation for cancer research.

"If you're going to do it, why not here?" he said. "When it went in, I didn't believe it."

Anyone know a place online where you can get custom hats/shirts made?  They also need to ship to Canada and have no minimum order size.

I've found a bunch of places, but they either cost an arm and a leg to get them in Canada, or you need to buy at least a dozen of them or something like that.
