Tiger Woods to play Bridgestone Invitational

Do we have any golf fans here? Tiger Woods announced via Twitter 30 mins ago that he will be returning to the PGA Tour next weekend at the Bridgestone Invitational. His long time friend Bryon Bell will be on the bag for him after it was announced that caddie Steve Williams was fired after the ATT National.

I'm going to enjoy his struggles this week.  I think it is a decentpropoetion of ego that has him coming back a handful of weeks after Williams went onhis over-the-top tirade.

Its always amazing to me how people love to see these guys fail. Albeit he was the architect of his own demise to a point... I'd still like to see him play his way back to respectability

I don't get it either Damien. I think that its far better for the game of golf to have Tiger playing, and competing for the lead. I love golf, and could watch just about any event, no matter who is, or isn't playing. There's just something that makes it far more interesting when a player like Tiger is in the field and competing. He adds something to an event like noone else can.

I'm really looking forward to seeing future battles between he and Rory McIlroy when he gets into form again.

I remember reading a few years back that when Tiger was in an event, the average score by all the other golfers went up by 1. Just his presence threw people off their game. When he wasn't around, scores dropped. Didn't matter how he played, just that he was on the card.

I wonder, given the decline in his game, and mental state, that still holds true.

I guess I'm more or less ambivalent to Tiger Woods these days. I used to be a fan of his who'd agree that he made the tournaments he played in more interesting but now, while I'm not rooting against him, I think he's a questionable enough character that it's tough to get in his corner. I guess there's some mild interest in seeing how aging affects him but other than that he's just another golfer.

When you see slow motion footage of his swing as a 21 year old winning his first Masters it is absolutely incredible. That swing also wrecked his knee though.

Id like him to start winning again.

It really is incredible to watch..some of those huge shots where he threw his entire body into them..that torque was not good for the knees

Instant Karma baby, gotta love that stuff. Now why hasn't Clemens been hit by a truck? Or Glenn Beck been bitten by a gay rabid chihuahua? Weird!

Haven't watched golf since he stopped playing well, and probably won't until he hopefully starts playing well again.

I've watched a little but basically, I'm in the same boat you are. I like watching golf (and playing it when I can) but until someone dominates again or at least shows an abundance of charisma, I won't feel a need to go out of my way to watch.  Golf needs characters I think. 99% of the tour is just the same bloke these days.

I didn't even realize that this was the start of page 2. I just thought that the title didn't match the actual subject topic. Not sure which one is more odd.

Odd topic choice aside, it really is nice to see.  She would be 14th on the LPGA tour money list but is still an amateur.
