Basically we only notice Martin's contributions when we lose (i.e. when everyone else craps the bed).

That's true, but I think it still says something valid about how dormant Brown and Marleau have been now for better than 2 months.  In my mind, Brown especially really hasn't done much to stand out for most of this year.

Hyman OTOH probably just doesn't get the props he deserves.
