Stanley Cup Final Chicago (1) vs Boston (5)

So, so bummed out that I couldn't watch this game. From what it sounds like it was the game of the playoffs.
 
On a completely unrelated note, that Boston Pizza wing commercial on CBC live streaming has to be worst thing in the history of advertising. My eyes! And ears!  ???
 
Final score: Chicago 6  Boston 5  OT  Stanley Cup Final tied at 2 games apiece.

For those fans that enjoy wide-open, high-scoring  Stanley Cup Final playoff hockey, this game was for you.  The action never stopped, as both the Bruins and the 'Hawks see-sawed their way onto the scoreboard.  Of course, Chicago had the lead the whole game up until that overtime.

Brent Seabrook was the overtime hero for the 'Hawks as his straightaway slaphot from the point went through a maze of traffic before finally sailing past Bruins netminder Tukka Rask.  Among the other scorers for the 'Hawks was the line of Toews, Bickell, & Kane.  Having injured Marian Hossa back into the lineup somewhat helped matters upfront.

Boston Bruins were no slouches either, as they countered after each Chicago goal, in the best way they knew, with plenty of fortuitous play.  Not since Game 3 of the Quarter-Finals vs Torono had Boston trailed in a playoff game and series.  That alone stands out as an accomplishment all unto itself.

The 'Hawks with the overtime victory reclaim home-ice advantage, shall they need it in this Cup final.  It needn't matter much as the Bruins have proved a worthy opponent away from home, in the opposition's own rink.

It is now anyone's guess which way the rest of this Cup final will flow -- have the 'Hawks regained the momentum going home to the "Madhouse on Madison", or, will the
Bruins take charge, as they so aptly demonstrated in Game 2?  We'll find out Saturday night.
 
Interesting note: Chara was a -3, but also had two assists, one at even strength, or he would have been -4.

Also, Glenn Healy on Prime Time Sports last night (paraphrasing): "There is no chance Boston plays like they did against the Leafs. That's zero." Maybe try weather forecasting instead, Glenn. You might fit in better. ::)
 
Glean Healy is a buffoon. He has his head so far up the rearend of the Bruin's players and management you'd think there was a job opening.

Chicago 3  Boston 1  Chicago leads Stanley Cup Final 3 games to 2.

Welcome to the Kane and Toews show.  Make that the Kane, Toews and Brickell show.  Patrick Kane's two goals alongside Toews and Bickell's assists, proved more than enough to stave off Boston and win Game 5, here at the Madhouse in Chicago.  Mike Bolland's empty-netter sealed the win.

Chicago once again stuck to the strategy that won them Game 4, as the 'Hawks speed and skill were more than the Bruins could handle, even with Boston's Jagr caroming a shot off the post in the final seconds of the game.  Besides, Corey Crawford stood firm in providing the stoppages when needed for the 'Hawks. 
The Bruins Tukka Rask played solid at the other end of the rink, not enough though to prevent a couple of well-placed Chicago goals.

If this was one of the more physical games in the series, it certainly showed tonight, as the Bruins Patrice Bergeron left the game early, to hospital for observation. 
The 'Hawks Jonathan Toews did not play for the rest of the third period, due to a sidewise hit (headshot?) from Bruins defenceman Johnny Boychuk, which may or may not be up for a review.

All in all, Chicago won the battles on the scoreboard as well as in the game overall.  As much as the Bruins threw at them in terms of hits, the 'Hawks stood their ground and executed well in their game plan.

Next game (Game 6) will be in Boston.  The 'Hawks have the chance to win it all, while the Bruins need to stave off elimination.  Should make for more great hockey.

I think Claude Julien is taking the whole not being informative thing to a new level:

Bruins coach Clade Julien said later Sunday that Bergeron is day to day with a "body" injury.

It'll be real interesting to see how game 6 goes if Toews and Bergeron are both out.
